The Printing Of The Special Gazette Notification To Hold Presidential Elections Begun

A Special Gazette Notification to  hold  the Presidential Elections first Signed by the President Mahinda Rajapaksha was sent to the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dishanayaka this Evening Government Sources said.After Receiving the Gazette Notification  ,Elections Commissioner sent it to  the  Government Printer for Print   and the Printing Process of the Notification already begun  Sources further said.

After Issuing the  Special  Gazette Notification ,the Elections Commissioner will announce the Date Of Nominations and the Date of The Elections under the Section 31(5) of the Constitution.

President Decided To Conduct Presidential Elections First

President Mahinda Rajapaksha today informed the Cabinat Ministers  that he is going to conduct a Presidential Elections first ahead of the Parliamentary Elections.He is due to announce a date after consulting the Party Leaders of his Governing Alliance The United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) this evening according to the Government Sources.

Presidential Elections Date is to be announced through an Official Gazzzete Notification in Midnight today according to the Sources.Another Source said that the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dishanayaka will announced the Poll Date Tomorrow.

Under the present Sri Lankan Constitution the Executive President holds Six Years in Office and can Conduct a Presidential Elections after completing of Four Years in  office.President Rajapaksha has already completed Four Years in Office.

Health Ministry Interdict Two Pharmacists Over Issuing Of Expired Insulin Injection


Ministry Of Health has decided to Interdict Two Pharmacists attached to the Badullla Teaching Hospital who found guilty for issuing an Expired Insulin Injection to a Female Diabetic Patient on last September.These Pharmacists were interdicted after considering the Recommendations of the Inquiry Report submitted by the Special Investigations Unit of the Ministry Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said today .Ministry already asked the Chief Pharmacist of the Badulla Hospital to Provide Show Cause regarding to the Incident.

The issuing of out dated Insulin Injection occured in 27th of September this year.

Ministry Of Health To Import 30,000 Liters Of BTI Bacteria From Cuba


Ministry of Health has  decided to Import 30,000 Litres of BTI Bacteria from Cuba in the first weak of January Next Year,to  destroy the Dengue Mosquito Lavae Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said today.This Bacteria will use for Air Spray and for Domestic use  according to the Minister.

Addressing a Press Briefing held at the Ministry Of Health this morning the Minister stressed that due to the Local Comapny that undertaken the Production of the said Bacteria  delaying the Production Ministry has decided to Import the Bacteria from Cuba immediately.

Health Ministry To Import Dengue Larvae And Rat Killing Bacterias From Cuba

The Ministry Of Health has been decided to Import Two Bacterias which killed Dengue Mosquito Larvae and Rats from Cuba before the end of Next Month Senior Official of the Ministry said yesterday.The Bacterias decided to Import from Cuba are "BTI"  use to kill Dengue Mosquito Larvae and "Bio Rat".The 200 Million Budget Cost of Importing and using  these Bacterias presented to the Cabinet by the Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva was approved recently.

The BTI Bacteria which kills Dengue Mosquito Larvae Is decided to Air Spray in the Selected Areas.


According to the Health Ministry discussions to importing these Bacterias from Cuba are currently underway with the Cuban Embassy Officials in Colombo.Health Minister personally met the Cuban Ambassador last week and during the meeting he express Ministry's willingness to Import these Bacterias to the Country Immediatly.

The Deaths due to the "Dengue" and "Leptospirosis"(Rat Fever) are in increase in Sri Lanka.

All IDP'S In Camps Of Northern Sri Lanka To Give Freedom Of Movement From December

Senior Adviser to the President Mahinda Rajapaksha MP Basil Rajapaksha today announced that the Internally Displaced Persons(IDP)  in the the IDP Camps in Northern Sri Lanka including the High Security Manick Farm will given freedom to move freely with the effect from 01st of December.He made this Announcement after visiting the Manick Farm IDP Camp in Northern Sri Lanka this morning.

The Movement of the Inmates of the Menick Camp was restricted due to the Information received that the LTTE Suspects are also there among the IDP's of the Camp.MP Basil Rajapaksha who is also the President of the Task Force for Rehabilitation and Re Settlement of President Mahinda Rajapaksha said that Government decided to give Greater Freedom for the IDP'S under the Government's Strategy of improving the Rights and Privileges of the IDP'S.

He also said that the All IDP'S in the Camps of Northern Sri Lanka will be resettled by 31st of January 2010.

Ministry Of Health To Import 380,000 H1N1 Influenza Injections From Australia

The Ministry Of Health is decided  to Import a Stock of 380,000 H1N1 Naval Influenza(Swine Flu) Injection Vials with Courtesy of the World Health Organization(WHO) within the Fist Weak of December.These Injection Vials are made in Australia according to the Health Ministry Officials.

These Injection Vials will be given Five Identified Risk Groups who are Prone to Develop Serious Complications such as Infants under the Age of Six Months,Elderly People over the Age of 64 years,Pregnant Mothers,People suffering from Diseases like Heart,Kidney,Diabetes and Lung Infections under the National Immunization Programme.The Patients of other Age Groups suffering from  H1N1 Disease will be given the Injection later if a need arise Ministry Officials further added.

The decision to import H1N1 Influenza Injections was taken due to the increase of the Death rate  related to the Disease increased during last two weeks.Up to last Friday 5 H1N1 Deaths were reported from Kandy,Matara and Anuradhapura Districts.
