Seventeen Died Due To The Adverse Weather In The Island

 Seventeen persons,have died and Around Twenty persons,were injured due to the adverse,weather prevailed in the island during last week as a result of the Fengal typhoon which made a landfall.in sri lanka according to thd Disaster Management Center(DMC).Around 479,821 persons,were Affected due to the adverse weather conditions it caused due to the typhoon it has been revealed.




Meanwhile around 103 houses were completely destroyed as a result this DMC has announced .


Ceypetco Announced A Price Revision Of Fuel

 The Ceylon Petroleum Corporationn(Ceypetco) had reduced the Price of a liter of Octane-92 petrol by Rs.2 and increased the price of a liter of Ceylon White Diesel by Rs.3 and a liter of Kerosene Oil  by Rs.5 with effect from midnight tonight (30) under it's  monthly price revision formula it has been announced.

Accordingly the Price of a liter of Octane -92 Petrol had


reduced by Rs.2 to Rs.309  ,A liter of Ceylon White Diesel increased by Rs.3 to Rs.286  and a Liter of Kerosene oil had increased by Rs.5 to Rs.188 .The prices of a  liter of Octane - 95 Petrol and Super Diesel will  remain unchanged Rs.371 and Rs.313  respectively .

Twenty One Member Cabinet Of The New Govt. Assumed. duties Today(19)

The 22 member Cabinet of the new government which was appointed yesterday (18) had assumed  duties in the respective Ministries today (19) it has been reported


President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had appointed the cabinet of Ministers yesterday whilst keeping some  cabinet portfolios under him and  they have sworn in before the president at the Presidential secretariat in Colombo. President appointed Dr Harini Amarasuriya as the Prime Minister and she is also the  Minister of Education as well.The new Minister of Health and Media is Dr Nalin Jayathissa

National Peoples Power (NPP) Created History By Winning The General Election With A Two Third Majority

 The naltional Peoples Power Party  (NPP)ead by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has emerged victorious at the Parliamentary Election  held yesterday (14)by securing 159 seats out of the 225 seat parliament . 

 According ly  NPP  has won 159 seats (61.1) perecent which is a two third majority in the current parliament and the main opposition party in the previous parliament Samagi Janabalawegaya (SJB) has won 40 followed by 05 seats won by National  Democratic Front ,03 seats won by Sri Lanka Progressive Front and 08 seats won by Tamil National Alliance (TNA) .Meanwhile according to the reports many former  Parliamentariens representing Sri lanka Progressive Front and  National Democratic front with a history of  corruption had lost their parliqmentary  seats

Sri Lankans Had Cast Their Vote To Elect 225 Members Of The 10th Parliament

 Sri Lankans had cast their vote today (14)  at the  General Election to elect 225  members for  the 10th  Parliament .According to the National Elections Commission the voting which commenced at 7 a.m today and ended at 4 p.m is peaceful and the overall voter turnout is around 65 percent.


The first election result released by the Elections Commission today  was the Postal vote result in Galle District (Southern Province)and it was won by the governing National Peoples Power (    NPP) party. Out of the election results  declared  upto now almost all the resuls are in favor of NPP it has been reported Meanwhile according to The Elections Commission 17.1 million voters were eligible for today's voting including 1 million new voters .At the election around 8800   candidates were contested for 225:parliamentary seats of  the 10 th parliament.
