Two Corona Deaths Reported Yesterday (26)
Two more Corona deaths reported yesterday (25)in the country ,increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 459 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center .
Accordingly two females resided at Kadawatha and Wattala areas had died due to the complications box the non communicable diseases they have suffered from as a result of Corona infection .The deceased females were 62 and 83 years old it had been revealed .
Health Minister Issued A Gazette Allowing Burials For Corona Infected Bodies
Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi had signed and issued a special Gazette notification last night(25) allowing the burial of a body of a person died due to Corona infection .Since.the Corona epidemic began in the Country only cremation has been allowed for Corona deaths .
However due to the pressure of some International organizations like UN Human Rights Council and neighbouring Pakistan Sri lankan government has decided to allow burial of A body of a Corona positive .However according to the Gazette Notification issues yesterday announcing this decision it says the Burial of a Corona positive body should have taken place at a cemetery approved by the relevant authority under the instructions of Director General of health services .
Prioritize Over 60 Age Group When Implementing Corona Vaccination Programme -SLMA President
President of Sri Lanka Medical Association(SLMA) Consultant Dr .Padma Gunaratna has made a written request from the Director General Of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardana to reverse the Corona Vaccine enrollment as some health officials had taken an unapproved step to give the vaccine for 30-60 year age group instead of over 60 year group .
Accordingly Dr Gunaratna has stressed that as 70 percent of the local Corona deaths are being occurred among over 60 age group the Corona vaccine enrollment should be prioritize for that group and the National Advisory Committee on Infectious diseases had also given approval for this last Januay .
'" Sri Lanka Medical Association had ovservefc observed last week that most of the Vaccination centers established for Corona Vaccination programme had prioritize giving the Corona vaccine for 30--60 age group and that is not approved by the advisory committee .As the global vaccine supply is limited we should manage to use the Corona vaccine doses carefully in a useful manner " she has stated .

500,000 Covishield Vaccines Had Been Airlifted From India
Another 500,000 Doses of Oxford -AstraZeneca "Covishield "Anti Corona Vaccine had brought by Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Chennai ,India this evening (25)according to Health officials .
The consignment. Of Covishield vaccine doses which was manufactured at Serum institute in India had been airlifted to Sti lanka from.Chennai it had been revealed .
This is a part of Covishield vaccines imported from india by Government owned State Pharmaceuticals Corporation and they are due to be vaccinated proritising persons over 60 years and those who are with co morbidities according to Health Ministry .
India had donated 500,000 Doses of Covishield vaccines last month to Sri lanka and upto now nearly 400,000 doses from it had been vaccinated so far it has been revealed .
