The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has today arrested a suspect with 16 Guns in connection with the Mulleriyawa Shooting incident occurred last Saturday which killed Former Government MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and three of his associates while injuring four others.The suspect was arrested along with 12 Pistols ,2 T-56 Guns and 2 revolvers according to the sources.
According to the CID they have recorded 37 statements so far regarding the killing of Former Government MP Premechandra who was also the Director General of Trade Union Activities attached to Presidential Secretariat at the time of his death.
Meanwhile the funeral of the Former MP is scheduled to be held in Umagiliya Stadium at his native Kollonnawa Town ( in Colombo Suburbs) on this Wednesday eve.Large crowds including government MP's and Politicians paid him their last respects since yesterday when his body was taken to his residence at Kolonnawa.
In another development Government MP Duminda Silva who got head injuries after the shooting incident and admitted to the ICU of Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital in Kotte was recovering slowly according to the hospital sources.He was in the ventilator since last Saturday and today the ventilator has been removed for the first time and he is gaining consciousness slowly sources have added.

Former Govt.MP And Two Others Killed ,Another Govt.MP Injured During A Shoot Out At Mulleriyawa
Former Government MP and President's Adviser Bharatha Lakshman Prmachandra and two of his security personals were killed and Government MP Duminda Silva was critically injured during a shoot out incident between their supporters occurred at Mulleriyawa Town (Colombo Suburbs) this evening according to the Police Sources. This incident became the major Election Related violence reported during today (08) as the voting for the 23 Urban /Pradeshiya Saba Council Elections was conducted today.
The deceased Government MP Premachandre was admitted to Colombo National Hospital but succumbed to his injuries and the injured Government MP was admitted to Sri Jaywardenapura Hospital Intensive Care Unit with head injury where he underwent a surgery.
After the shooting incident Police Curfew was imposed in the Mulleriyawa Town in to protect peace in the area.The Army and the Special Task Force personal are also deployed in the town to assist Police in this regard.

Mental Disorders Amongst Local Population Are In Increase-National Mental Health Institute
Out of the Sri Lankan Population 30-35 percent are suffering from some kind of mental Illness according to the Director of National Mental Health Institute in Angoda( In Colombo Suburbs) Dr.Jayan Mendis."As the people suffering from mental illness are in increase it is disturbing to see that there are no Mental Wards in some of the provincial hospitals to cater the needs of such people " he stressed.
While Addressing a Media Seminar held today(07) at the Institute on "The Horticulture Project " introduced to Patients who are suffering from Mental Illness Dr.Mendis has said that the mentioned "Horticulture Project " proved as a great success and it provides the much needed mental relief to the patients.Out of the total income from the project 30 percent is deposited in the Bank Accounts of the inmates at National Mental Health Institute and patients of other hospitals who are involved in this project and the remained 70 percent are given to the Project Fund he revealed.
The NGO who are working on Mental Illness "Basic Needs" assisted the National Mental Health Institute when carried out the Horticulture Project.
Addressing the gathering the Project Coordinator Vipula Dhanayaka of Basic Needs has said that during the period 2003-2011 around 808 Mentally Ill people are involved in this Horticulture Project and 277 people so far Socially Integrated as the result of this project.

An Essential Anesthetic Injection "Ephedrin " Is Out Of Stock At Government Hospitals
An essential anesthetic injection which is also using for keeping Blood Pressure normal during the Surgeries "Ephedrin " is out of stock Island Wide and as a result of this Most of the Surgeries including of Cesarian Surgeries are halted according to the Government Hospital sources.
The out of stock injection was not available in government hospitals since one month and Patients and the Surgical Staff in hospitals faced severe hardships due to this the sources revealed.The said injection is using both anesthesia as well as to maintain normal pressure during the surgeries.
It has been reported that "Ephedrin" Injection is out of stock in the Government Medical Supplies Division as well.

Doctors Token Strike Today Paralyzed The Government Hospital OPD Clinics And Routine Surgeries/Treatment
The OPD Clinics,Routine Medical Care and Surgeries in Government Hospitals were paralyzed as the Government Hospitals Doctors were launched an Island Wide 4 hour token strike today(05) from 8 a.m to 12 noon protesting over the assault against Secretary of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) Dr.N.J Nonis .
All the Government Hospital Doctors except the Doctors attached to Lady Ridgway Children's Hospital,Castle Street Maternity Hospital,De Soyza Maternity Hospital and Cancer Hospital ,Maharagama were stay out at work during the strike and only attended the Emergency Services the Government Medical Officers Association has announced.

GMOA Executive Committee To Meet Again Tomorrow(06) To Decide Future Course Of Action Against The Assaulting Dr.Nonis
The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) is to summon a special Executive Committee meeting at 12 noon tomorrow(06) to decide their future course of action against the assaulting of one of the senior members of Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) it's registrar Dr.N.J Nonis .
The Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Dr.Upul Gunesekera has said today that the Executive Committee which met today has decided to launch an island wide strike without a prior notice if any of it's members are subjected to harassment or assault like this."We concerned this assault against Dr.Nonis as an assault against the standard Medical Care in the country and an assault against us as well " he stressed.
Addressing a Press Briefing at the GMOA Headquarters in Colombo this noon Dr.Gunesekera has said that the Government Specialist Doctors Union ,The Government Dental Surgeons Association and the University Lecturers extended their support towards the GMOA in todays trade union action in Government Hospitals as well as in future course of action taken against the assaulting of Dr.Nonis.
As the suspect who assaulted Dr.Nonis yesterday was arrested by the Police today ,Dr.Gunesekera stressed that GMOA expecting that the suspect will be produced before the court soon and punished according to the law .
Meanwhile the assaulted Dr.Nonis who is a Specialist as well was admitted to the Neuro Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital this morning for an investigations but he got discharged and reported to work at the Sri Lanka Medical Council as the Council summoned a special meeting today.

EXCLUSIVE- Government Hospital Doctors To Launch An Island Wide 4 Hour Token Strike Tomorrow
The Executive Committee of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) which was summoned an emergency meeting two hours ago has decided to launch a 4 hour Island Wide Token Strike of Government Hospital Doctors between 8 A.M to 12 Noon tomorrow (05) to protest against the assaulting of secretary to the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) Dr,N.J Nonis this afternoon.
A spokesman of the GMOA has said that the Doctors attached to Lady Ridgway Children's Hospital,Maharagama Cancer Hospital,Castle Street Maternity and De Soyza Maternity Hospitals in Colombo will not participate this Island Wide Strike due to humanitarian reasons.
Due to this Strike OPD Clinics of the Government Hospitals and routine surgeries and treatment will become stand still tomorrow and Emergency Services of rest of the Hospitals will be maintained as usual during the strike period the spokesman has stressed.
