Dr.Harini Amarasuriya of the National Peoples Power Party (NPP) has sworn in as the New Prime Minister of the Government before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake last evening (24)at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.
Four Cabinet members of the new government of President Dissanayake holding 17 ministries had also sworn in before President last evening.The new Ministers of the Givernment are President ,Prime Minister along with Wijitha Herath and Lakshman Nipunaarachchi.
President has also appointed new secretaries to the 17 ministries of the new governemnt.Earlier President Dissanayake has appointed Retired Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha as the new secretary to the Ministry Of Defense and former Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG) Ravi Seneviratne as the new secretary to the Ministry of Public Security .
President Dissanayke who was elected as the 09th Executive President of Sri Lanka had sworn in his post before Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya in a simple ceremony held at the Presidential secretariat on last Monday.Afterwards President has appointed Dr.Nandika Sanath Kumanayake as the new secretary to the President .
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has dissolved the Parliament with effect from midnight last night(24) according to the government sources.The gazette nollification regarding the dissolvement of the Parliament signed by the President has been issued yesterday .p The General Election to elect 225 members to the new Parliament will be held on 14th of November this year and the new parliament will be convened on 21st of November it has been announced.
The nominations for the forthcoming Parliament election will be accepted from 04th of October until 12 noon on 11th of October .

The newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will dissolve the current Parliament to elect a new Parliament at the first instance received by him according to the National Peoples Power (NPP) party MP Dr.Harini Amarasuriya.
Speaking to the Media at the National Elections Commission office premises in Colombo on Sunday she has stated that the new president will appoint a temporary cabinet to run the country and will be engaged in few otther activities before dissolving the Parliament
The Presidential Candidate of the National Peoples Power (NPP) Party Anura Kumara Dissanayake has been elected as the 09th Executive President of Sri Lanka with 5,740,179 votes(42.3 percent ) from the Presidential election held yesterday (21).He has been declared as the winner after counting of second and third preferential votes received by him and his main rival Samagijanabalawegaya Party(SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa as the newly elected President didn't receive 50 percent of votes required according to the constitution .The final result of the Presidential election held last Saturday was announced at a ceremony held at the National Elections Commission in Colombo late sunday night.
