President Dissolved The Parliament Last Night-Election To Be Held On 14 th Of November

 President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has dissolved the Parliament with effect from midnight last night(24) according to the government sources.The gazette nollification regarding the dissolvement of the Parliament signed by the President has been issued yesterday .p The General Election to elect 225 members  to the new Parliament will be held on 14th of November this year and the new parliament will be convened on 21st of November it has been announced.


The nominations for the forthcoming Parliament election will be accepted from 04th of October until  12 noon on 11th of October .

Parliament To Be Dissolved At The First Instance Received -NPP MP Harini Amarasuriya

 The newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake  will  dissolve the current Parliament to elect a new Parliament at the first instance received by him according to the National Peoples Power (NPP) party MP Dr.Harini Amarasuriya.



Speaking to the Media at the National Elections Commission office premises  in Colombo on Sunday she has stated that the new president will appoint a temporary cabinet to run the country and will be engaged in few otther activities before  dissolving the Parliament 

NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake Elected As The 09th Executive President Of Sri Lanka

The Presidential Candidate of the National Peoples Power (NPP) Party Anura Kumara Dissanayake has been elected as the 09th Executive President of Sri Lanka with 5,740,179 votes(42.3 percent ) from the Presidential election held yesterday (21).He has been declared as the winner after counting of  second and third preferential votes received by him and his main rival Samagijanabalawegaya Party(SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa as the newly elected President didn't receive 50 percent of votes required  according to the  constitution .The final result of the Presidential election held last Saturday was announced at a ceremony held at the National Elections Commission in Colombo late sunday night.


The newly elected Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to be sworn in before chief justice Jayantha Jayasuriya at a simple ceremony in Presidential secretariat at Galle face,Colombo tomorrow(23) it has been announced.There will be no auspicious times and welcome ceremonies for the newly elected preident the NPP has announced.Earlier NPP leaders requested the public not to light fire crackers and making milk rice at roadsides to celebrate the victory of newly elected Sri Lankan President.

Islandwide Curfew To Continue Till Noon Today(22)

The Islandwide curfew imposed since 10p.m last night(21) is due to continue till 12 noon today (22) according to the government .Earlier governmant had announced that the curfew will continue till 6 a.m this morning.

Although there is a peaceful enviornment  prevails in the island since the conclusion of the voting last evening ,President Ranil Wikramasinghe has imposed the curfew under the powers vested with him from the Public Security Act .Meanwhile according to the authorities of the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport many top politicians representting current government  and their family members as well as their close friends have fled away from the country since last night during curfew hours.

116 Election Monitors Are Here To Observe Presidential Election

 To Observe today's Presidential Election  116 foreign Poll observers have arrived the country recently according to the reports.Out of these observers 78 are from European Election Monitoring Organizations it has been reported.


Police protection is being provided to these poll observers to carry out their duty without any issue  according to authorities.
