Maximum Punishment For Vote Rigging -Elections Commissioner

 Those who are found as responsible for vote rigging will be fined Rs.200,000 or sentenced to One year imprisonment according to the Elections Commisoner General Saman Sri Rathnayake .Earlier Rs.500.was fined for vote rigging he has stated.


Those who found guilty on vote rigging in High  court can also  face both punishments at  the same time the Elections Commissioner General has stated.

The Voting of The Ninth Presidential Election Has Commenced

 Sri Lankan voters are casting their vote today (21)to elect the ninth Executive President of the country as the voting began in the  13,421 Polling stations situated across the country .The voting of today's Presidential Election will be held from 7 a.m to 4 p.m and a total of 17.1million voters are being eligible to vote in today ' s election according to the National Elections Commission .


A record breaking 38 candidates are being contested in todays election and around 63,000 police officers are being deployed throughout the country to ensure the safety of the voters according to the Elections commission.The transportation of ballot boxes to the polling stations in 22 districts has commenced last morning (20)under tight security .

Today's election is a crucial one as the voters are voting to elect a president whom they think as can stear the country out of the worst ever economic crisis in the country occurred in 2022 according to the National Elections Commission .

ITAK To Support SJB Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa

 Ilangei  Thamil Arasakachchi Party(ITAK)  has decided to support Samagijanabalawegaya(SJB) Party candidate Sajith Premadasa in the forthcoming Presidential election scheduled to be held  on 21st of September .


According to the leader of the party MP Mavai Senadhirja The  central bureau of the ITAK had decided to support SJB Candidate in the forthcoming election.

Fourteen Youths Were Arrested At A Facebook Party

Excise officers  have arrested 14 youths who were under the influence of narcotics during a raid caried out  at a facebook Party held in a hotel in Kadawatha area (Colombo) yesterday(15).The detained who are from various places in the country and in the age group 19-30 years were under the  influence of narcotics Ice and Cocaine at the time of the arrest according to the officers. 



Excise officers in the Gampaha,Negambo and Jaela areas have conducted this raid.

Another Two Days Allocted For Postal Voting

 Those who were not been able to cast their postal ballots for the forthcoming Presidential Election can do so  on 11 th and 12 th of September at the district polling stations situated in their work places  according to the National Elections Commission.


 .The first phase of the   casting Postal votes for the Presidential Election which is  scheduled to be held on 21st of September .was held on 04th ,05th and 06th of September tthe commission has stated.



Cess Levy Imposed On Imported Cement Reduced

 The Cess Levy imposed on Imported Cement has been reduced by Rs.1.per a  Kilo Gramme with effect from 06th of September  The Ministry of  Finance has announced .



The reduction of the Cess levy imposed on Cement has been made by President Ranil Wikramasinghe in virtue of the Powers Vested with him as the Minister of Investment Promotion .

CID Had Arrested An Indian National In Pocession Of 12 Gold Biscuits

 The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officials have arrested an Indian national Businessman in pocession of 12 Gold Biscuits whilst awaiting at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake last evening (07).



The value of the seized stock of Gold Biscuits is around Rs.30 million according to CID Officials.The CID Officials had arrested the 29 year old Indian Businessnan when he was, awaiting at the Airport to flyback to Bangalore india it has been reported.The seized stock of Gold biscuits had been concealed in trouser pocket of the suspect.
