Main Opposition SJB Chairman Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka resigned From His Post

 The Chairman of the Man Opposition Samagijanabalawegaya (SB) Party Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has been resigned from his post yesterday(09).


He has taken this decision in view of contesting the forthcoming presidential election scheduled to be held on 21 st of September it has been reported.

Twenty Two Passangers Were Injured Due To Bus Collision

 Twenty two passangers were injured and hospitalized after the two private buses they were travelling in colliding with each other at Aralaganwila Road ,Mahaoya,(Anuradhapura District) yesterday(03).



The injured including 12 females, 08 Children and 02 males were admitted to the Mahaoya Hospital for treatment .The incident occurred when a Private Bus travellingfrom Mahaoya to Aralaganwila had collided with another Private Bus travelling in the opposite direction according  to the police.Police have arrested one of the private Bus drivers in connection  with the accident .

Five Injured Due To A Motor Car Collision on Southern Express Highway

Five persons were injured and hospitalized due to a Motor car collision at 92 Kilo meter post area between Baddegama and Pinnaduwa areas of the  Southern Express highway it has been reported.The incident occurred due to a collision between two Motor vehicles travelling in the same direction according to reports.

Due to this accident the traffic of the road has been completely blocked it has been reported.

Activities Of Galle Prison Have Been Restricted

 Prison Authorities of Galle prison had decided to restrict the activities of prison for a week period as one of the prison inmates has confirmed as died from brain fever .

According to the Prison Commissioner during the post mortem of the deceased prison inmate it has been confirmed that he has died due to brain fever.As a result steps have been taken to transfer new prisoners of the Galle prison  to  other prisons according to sources.


Public Utilities Commission reduced Monthly Electricity Bill

 Sri Lanka Public Utilities Commission has,decided to reduce the monthly Electricity Bill with effect from today (16) according to its chairman Professor Manjula  Fernando.Accordingly  the Monthly Electricity Bills of  houses will be reduced by 27 percent ,Hotels will be reduced by 25 percent and Religious places by 30 percent .


However the Ceylon Electricity Board has recommended a 10 percent reduction of Electricity Bill it has been reported.
