Flood Warnings Issued For Residents Living Near Major Rivers

 Due to the heavy showers pevailing in The department of Irrigation has issued flood warnings for the residents living near Attanagalu Oya ,Kalu,Kelani,Gin and Benthara Rivers and Ma Oya(River) .

Meanwhile authorities have advised 


the Motorists to avoid parking their vehicles under trees these days due to the current weather.


Met Department Requested Fishing Community To Avoid Going To Sea Areas Due To Heavy Showers /Winds

 The Department  Of Meteorology has issued an advisory to the Naval and fishing communities  requesting  them to avoid going to  sea areas  until further notice due to the strong winds accomopanied by  heavy showers prevailing in these days.


Strong winds along with heavy showers are being experienced over the sea areas  around South western sea of Bay of Bengal and South Eastern Arabian sea areas according to the Met Department.As a result Heavy showers of more than 150.mili meters  will be experienced in Western  and North Western provinces the Department has stated

All The Schools In The Puttalam ,District Have Been Closed Today(20)

 All the schools in Puttalam District are being  closed today (20)due to the adverse weathee conditions prevailing in the district at present the Governor of the North Western Province has  announced.


This decision has been  taken as all the schools in the Puttalam District are being fully submerged as a result of the heavy showers experienced by the district since last Saturday night(18).

More Than 450 KG Of Narcotics Destroyed In Wanathawilluwa

 Defence Authorities have destroyed a stock.of narcotics weighing more than 450 Kilo Grammes  seized during raids conducted recently in the precence of Defence Minister Tiran Alles and the Inspector General Of Police Deshbandu Thennakoon at the Wanathawilluwa,area in Puttalam district on Ssturday(18).

India Extended LTTE Ban for Another Five Years

 India have decided to extend the ban imposed on LTTE for   another five years the Ministry of Internal affairs in India has announced yesterday (14).  

This decision to extend


the LTTE Ban has been taken  as LTTE Supporters are trying to increase the support base of the organization by spreading extremist ideas the Ministry has anmounced.


NBRO Issued Landslide Warnings To Four Districts

 The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) had yesterday (14)  issued landslide warnings  to 17 Provincial Secretariet divisions of fout districts as a result of the heavy showers prevailing in those areas at present.


Accordingly  Landslide warnings had been issued to 17 Provincial Secretariet Divisions belongs to Badulla,Kandy ,Kegalle and Ratnapura Districts   until  5  pm  this evening(15) the NBRO has stated.
