All Non Academic Staff Of Universities Launched A Strike

 All  non academic staff attached to the Universities  Island wide had launched a continuous Strike with effect from  yestetday (02)  demanding solutions for several demands including salary anomalies of them.


This trade union action is being launched as the authorities failed to give solutions for their demands according to Joint  trade unions Committee of the Universities..

A Couple Arrested With A stock Of Narcotics

 The Special Police Task Force Personal had arrested a couple in possession of a stock of natcotics worth over Rs.15 million in Colombo it has been reported.


According to the Special Police Task Fotce A person who is an assistant of a large scale drug smuggler and his wife were  arrested in possession of 13 Kilo Grammes of Heroin  ,06 Kilo grammes of Hash narcotic  and 500  grammes of Cocaine .The suspects are residents of Pannipitiya ,area and operated this drug racket during  last two years the Police Task Force had stated.

Cement Prices Dropped By Rs.50

 The Cement Companies had reduced the price of 50 KG Cement bag  by Rs.50 with effect from today(01) .


With this price reduction the price of a 50 KG Cement bag had been reduced by  Rs.2450to Rs.2400 


Fuel Prices Had Been Reduced

 The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO)  has reduced the prices of  All kinds of Fuel with effect from midnight last night(30) according to the montly price revision of Fuel. it has been announced.


Accordingly  the Price of Octane -92  Petrol has been reduced by Rs.3 per liter to Rs.368,Octane -95 Petrol  by Rs.20 to Rs.420 ,Auto diesel liter has been  reduced by Rs.30 to Rs.333 ,Super Diesel reduced  by Rs.9 to Rs.377:and Kerosene Oil by Rs.30 per Liter  to Rs. 215.

Meanwhile Lanka Indian Oil.(LIOC).and,Sinopec ool.companies have also reduced the fuel.prices by same amount 



Cabinet Paper To Allow Tourists Of 67 Countries To Receive Free Visas

 A Cabinet Paper allowing tourists of 67 countries to visit Sri Lanka with free visas will be submitted to the Cabinet soon  according to State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage .This step will be taken in view of developing the Tourism industey in the Country she has stated.




At the moment Sri Lanka allows touists of 07 Countries to visit the country with free visasthe State Mimister  has revealed.

Interest Rate Of EPF To Be Increased

 The interest rates paid for Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will be increased to 13 percent with effect from 2023 according to the State Minister Of Finance  Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.


During the Government debt restructuring process  last year the interest rate of EPF received by 2.7 million  employees in the Private and   Semi government Sectors has been reduced to 9 percent.As the EPF has received a good income during  last year it has been decided to increase the interest rate of the Fund  to 13 percent the State Minister of Finance has stated.
