917 Prison Inmates To Receive State Pardon Today(13)

 Due to the Sinhala /Hindu New year dawns today(13) 917 Prison inmates  will be recieved special state pardon this morning  according to the Prisons Department.

allow prison inmates to see their relatives will be  also implemented today in all prisons  in view of the Sinhala Hindu New year the Department has,stated 



Seven Persons Were injured DueTo An Accident In Pinnawala

 Seven persons were  injured and hospitalized after the Van they were travelling in toppled over to a precipice at Balangoda-Hatton road on Balangoda-Pinnawala area yesterday(12)The injured were hospitalized after the incident it has been reported.


The injured were returning  home in Weeraketiya area  after visiting Sripada piligrimage at the time of the incident accordingto the  Pinnawala Police.

Cabinet Approved A Proposal Allowing Students To Study MBBS At Koralawala,Defense University

Cabinet had approved a proposal which allows  the Sri Lankan students to pursue medical degrees(MBBS) at the General Sir John Kotalawala Defense University.Accordingly the local students can enroll in the Medical degree programme on a payment basis.


Admission for this Medical degree programme will be based on   a combination of the A level Z score and other relevent Qualifications  according to the Department of Government Information.

 

Navy Arrested 08 Over Illegal Harvesting Of Sea Cucumbers

 Sri Lanka Navy have arrested 08 Persons Over the  illegal harvesting of  Sea Cucumber during a  Search operation carried out in the sea and beach areas of Nagar Kovil in Kilinochchi district on last Tuesday(09).



Navy had  also taken  into custody around 540 illegally harvested cucumbers during the raid.

Former Health Minister And Seven Other Officials Were Re-Remanded Over Importing Of Substandard Injection Vials

 Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and 07 other Health sector officials who were remanded over the  importing of  Substandard Human Immunoglobulin Injection vials for the Government Hospitals have been re remanded by thr Maigakande Magistrate Court lastWednesday (08).


The accused former Health Minister was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on 02 nd of February After being questioned over 10 hours regarding  the importing of substandard injection vials .

Newly Constructed Flyover Bridge In Slave Island Opened For Traffic

 The newly constructed Flyover bridge at Slave Island which is connected to Justice Akbar  Road and Uttarankanda Road has been opened  by the President Ranil Wikramasinghe yesterday(18).


The second phase of the Slave island flyover bridge project is being scheduled to be completed in September .This flyover bridge wil ease the road traffic caused by the Railway crosding in the Busy commercial  city  of Slave Island  which has wasted  three hours daily in the past  according to the officials.
