Electricity Supply To One Million Homes Disconnected Last Year(2023)

Electricity supply to around one million houses had been disconnected during last year(2023)due to the non payment of Electricity bills it has been revealed at the meeting of the Parliamentary select committee on appease the effects of Economic crisis held recently.

Officials representing many institutions including the public utilities commission had participated this meeting.

A Female Was,Killed And Three Injured Due To Van-Tiper Collision ollision

A female was killed and another three persons were injured and hospitalized due to a Van -Tiper truck collision occurred on Trincomalee-Kandy main road between Hatharas kotuwa and Kitulutuwa areas yesterday according to the Habarana Police.

A 37 year old female who was travelling in the van was killed and two other passangers in the Van along with the driver of the Tiper truck were injured and admitted to the Kantale Base hospital for treatment.The deceased was a resident of kinniya area it has been revealed.

Heat Index Advisory Issued For Several Areas

An amber heat index advisory had issued for several areas yesterday (23) by the Meteorology Department.

According to the authorities the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase upto caution level at some places in North Western ,and North Central provinces as well as in Colombo and Gampaha districts in anytime. .Public is being advised to stay hydrated ,Limit outdoor activities,Wear lightweight,White and light color cloths.Public is being also advise to pay special attention on Elderly persons and small children as well as sick family members during the current hot weather period
