CEYPETCO Revised Fuel Pricea

 The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO) has revised it's fuel prices with effect from midnight last night(31).


Accordingly A Liter of Octane -92 Petrol has been increased by Rs.5 from Rs.366 to Rs.371,A liter of Octane-95-Euro 4  Petrol decreased by Rs.8 From Rs.464 to Rs.456,A liter of Auto Diesel increased by Rs.5 from Rs.358 to Rs.363 and A Liter of Super Diesel decreased By Rs.7 from Rs.475 to Rs.468 and the liter of Lanka Kerosene oil price increased by Rs.26 from.Rs.236 to Rs.262.



Normal Service Passport Fee Increased By 100 Percent

 The Immigration and Emigration Department haa increased  the Normal Service Passport fee by 100  percent with effect from today(01) the Department has announced.

Accordingly the current normal Passport fee of Rs.5000    has been increased to Rs.10,000 with effect from today .

Four Paratroopers Injured During Indeoendence Day Rehearsals

 Four paratroopers  were injured and hospitalized after  falling to the grounds due to a mid air collision occurred during a independence day parachute   rehearsal held at Galle face green in Colombo yesterday (30).


The injured paratroopets including two from Sri Lanka Airforce and two from Sri lanka Army had been admitted to Colombo National Hospital for treatment.The incident occurred as,a,result of  improper functioning of Parachutes it has been revealed.

Police Fired Tear Gas To Disperse A Protest March Of Main Opposition Party

Police fired tear gas  and water cannons to disperse a massive protest  marxh organized by the main opposition Samagi Janabalawegaya (SJB) Party against government  in Colombo yesterday (30).


Although Maligakanda Magistrate  and Colombo Fort Magistrate Courts issued a,series of Court orders against SJB and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and  the organizers of the protest march  prohibiting blocking roads and entering several roads in Colombo fort ,Protesters held the protest march as planned.

The Protesters had demanded an early election and freedom of speech from the government.Amidst Firing Of Tear gas and water cannons protesters were continued teir protest march and held a rally aftetwards .

Due to firing tear gas towards the proresters five persons imcluding SJB MP Mujibur Rehman had been admitted to Colombo National Hospital it has been reported.Meanwhile several  tear gas cannisters fired towards protesters  had fallen into the Public library premises in Colombo as well causing tense situation among children and adults inside the library it has been reported.
