Sri Lanka To Import Rice Silmilar To Keeri Samba
Sri Lanka is scheduled to import a stock of Rice similar to the local Keeri samba to meet the Domestic rice requirement during the festive season and upcoming holiday season according to the State Minister of Trade,Commerce and Food Security Nalin Fernando.
State Minister Fernando had expressed this decision during his speach at the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Trade,Commerce and Food security in Parliament last week.
State Sector Employees Protested Demanding A Pay Hike
State Sector employees representing Several Trade Unions had launched an Island wide Protest campaign in front of the State institutions during lunch break yesterday (27) demanding a Pay hike of Rs.20,000.
The main Protest campaign Organized by the State and Provincial State Sector Trade Union Alliance was held infront of the "Sethsiripaya" in Battaramulla last noon.
President Removed Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe From His Post
President Ramil Wikramasinghe had removed the Minister of Sports ,Irrigation and Youth affairs Roshan Ranasinghe from.his post and appointed two new Ministers to replace his Ministerial Portfolios .
Accordingly President has removed Roshan Ranasinghe from his Ministerial Post due to his controversy with Cricket Board officials it has been reported.President had appointed former Minister of Sports Harin Fernando as the new Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and Pavitha Wanniarachchi as the Minister of Irrigation.
Before Removing Former Sports Minister Ranasinghe President Wikramasinghe had questioned him at the Cabinet meeting on his controversy with Cricket Board officials it has been reported .

Price Of MOP Fertilizer Reduced By Rs.10,000
The Price of Muriate Of Porash(MOP) widely known as "Bandi Pohora" is scheduled to be reduced by Rs.10,000 soon for the ongoing "Maha Harvest season according to the Minister Of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera.
Accordingly the Cabinet has approved a proposal tabled by the Minister of Agriculture to reduce the MOP Fertilizer from Rs.19,000 to Rs.9000 it has been stated.
CEB Cut Down It's Staff
In view of managing the expenses of the Ceylon Electricity Board(CEB) the Board had removed 5000 of it's permanent staff of enployees according to the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare .
The CEB will be functioned with the essential staff in future the Minister had stated .
