Police Fired Tear Gas/Water Cannons To Disperse A Protest
Police had fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse a Protest march organized by the Medical Students Action Commitee at Green path,Colombo -07 yesterday (27).
The Protest March was organized
the Medical students attached to the Medical students action committee comprising of Sabaragamuwa ,Moratuwa and Wayamba Medical faculties against opening Private Universities in Sri Lanka.
NBRO Issued Landslide Warnings,To Five Districts
The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) had issued landslide warnings to 46 Divisional secretariets in 05 districts due to the heavy showers experienced in the island at present.
Accordingly NBRO had issued landslide warnings to 46 divisional secretariets of Badulla ,Galle,Hambanthota ,Matara and Ratnapura districts .

One of the most gorgeous yesteryear actresses in Sinhala Cinema Clarice De Zilwa had passed away today (27) it has been announced.
An actress with natural beauty in Rukmani Devi era late Clarice de Zilwa had acted in many popular yesteryear Sinhalese films including Mathalan,Allapu gedara.Suhada divi Piduma ,Purusha Ratnaya and kala kala de Pala pala,de .She was 89 years of age at the time of her death and her funeral was held within 24 hours after the demise according to her wishes it has,been reported.."May her beautiful soul rest in peace".
Twenty Three Were Injured and Hospitalized Due To A Fire In Pettah
Around twenty three persons were received burn injuries and hospitalized six in a critical condition due to a fire broken out at a five storied retail apperal shop building in second cross street in Pettah(colombo) this morning (27) .
The injured were admitted to the Accident service of the Colombo National Hospital for treatment and six of the injured had been admitted to the Intensive care unit (ICU) of the Accident service it has been revealed.Ninteen of the injured including 11 males,and 08 females were still in the wards receiving treatment .The Colombo fire brigade had deployed 11 fire trucks to contain the blaze and the fire fighters had taken more than two hours to douse the fire according to reports.Sri lanka Army,Sirforce and Police had helped the fire fighters in this regard.
According to the authorities the fire was occurred due to an electric generater caught fire when an attempt was made to burn coconut husks using petrol .
