Twenty Three Were Injured and Hospitalized Due To A Fire In Pettah

 Around twenty three  persons were received burn injuries and hospitalized six in a  critical condition due to a fire broken out at  a five  storied retail apperal  shop building  in  second cross street in Pettah(colombo) this morning (27) .


The injured were admitted to the Accident service of the Colombo National Hospital for treatment and six of the injured had been admitted to the Intensive care unit (ICU) of the Accident service it has been revealed.Ninteen of the injured including 11 males,and 08 females were still in the wards  receiving  treatment .The Colombo fire brigade had deployed 11 fire trucks to contain the blaze and the fire fighters had  taken more than two hours to douse  the fire according to reports.Sri lanka Army,Sirforce and Police had helped the fire fighters in this regard.

According to  the authorities the fire was occurred due to an electric generater caught fire when an attempt was made to burn coconut husks using petrol .

Sri Lanka Navy And Police Arrested Five Persons Over Transporting A Haul Of Heroin From A Trawler

Sri Lanka Navy and Police narcotic bureau had arrested  five persons along with  a multiday fishing trawler over transporting 212 Kilo grammes of Heroin at West of Galle district yesterday (23).


The trawler boat carrying  the haul of heroin was heading to a foreign country at the time of the incident it has been revealed .According to the Navy the street value of the haul of Heroin taken into custody  is estimated as  over Rs.4 billion.The haul of heroin along with the suspecta and the trawler were handed over to the Police narcotic bureau for a legal action.

 

President Reshuffled Some Cabinet Portfolios

 President Ranil Wikramasinghe has reshuffled his Cabinet last morning(23) by changing some f of the   Ministerial portfolios  the President's office has announced.


Accordingly Dr.Ramesh pathirane has been appointed as the Minister of Health and Industries and State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya had sworn in as the non Cabinet Minister of State plantation ,enterprises and reforms.Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella had sworn in as Minister of Enviornment and Mahinda Amaraweera had sworn in as the Minister of Agriculture and plantations


Two Persons Were Killed Due To Three Wheeler-Bus Colilision

Two persons were killed after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in colliding with a Bus at Andiambalama area in Katunayake last night(22).


The Bus was travelling from Dehiwala to Batticaloa at the time of the incident according to th Katunayake police.
