A Retired Bank Officer Was Arrested Whilst Transporting Agarwood

 The Anti Corruption Unit  of the Walana Police in Panadura(Western province) had arrested a retired Bank Officer whilst transporting around 45 Kilo Grammes of expensive "Agarwood" known as Wallapatta from his Motor car today (01) at the Junction near North Calido  beach in Kalutara district .


Police had taken the motor car of the suspect into custody  after the inspection according to  the reports. .The suspected Bank officer is a resident of Beruwela area it has been revealed.




  



A Civil Defence Officer Arrested Over The Shooting Of A Female Tusker

A Civil Defence Force officer was arrested by the Mahiyanganaya Police yesterday (30) over the  shooting of a female tusker  "Seetha"  of  Maharagama that participated the Annual  Mahiyangana Raja maha Vihara procession .The 47 year old female tusker was chained in the temple premises by her mahout  following the procession and mahout was inside the temple taking  lunch at the time of the incident  it has been revealed.


As some have pointed out that the Cicil defense  force officer had fired shots towards the tusker  thinking that the elephant is a,wild elephant ,Primary police investigations held  regarding  the incident had  revealed that the officer was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident.

As the female tusker had received gun shot injuries to hee chest and back she is being ccurrently undergoing  treatment for the injuries according to sources.The Ministry of Wildlife had also commenced an investigatiion regarding the shooting ..

Director General of Wildlife Chandana Suriyabandara, stated that an investigation has been launched in the ministry level regarding the shooting.

Treatment for gunshot wounds has already commenced.

The Mahiyanganaya police said a civil defense force officer has been arrested in connection with the

A Student Died After Falling From The Hospital Building

 A seventeen year old student receiving treatment at Theldeniya Hospital(Kandy District( has,died after falling from the sixth floor of the hospital it has been reported .


The incident occured whilst the  student were receiving  treatment for a stroke according to reports.

An Airforce Personal Was Killed Due To An Explosion

PAn Airforce Personal was killed due to an explosion occurred at a Airforce shooting Camp in kandakuliya,area ,Kalpitiya (North western Procince) this evening (26) according to Kalpitiya Police.



The deceased was identified as a 28 year old  Airforce personal attached to the Bomb disposal squad resided in Chilaw area.The incident occurred when the deceased attempting to  inspect an explosives it has been revealed.The body of the deceased is lying at the Kalpitiya Hospital for the post mortem.

 

A Youth Has Drowned Whilst Bathing In Bulathsinghala

 A 22 year old youth has drowned whilst bathing in a river at Halwatura,area in Bulathsinghala this evening (26).


The deceased youth was a resident of Horana area and had drowned whilst bathing in a river with few other youth it has been revealed.His body had sent to Ingiriya Base Hospital for the Post Mortem.

A Former DIG Was Sentenced A Five year Rigorous Imprisonment

 Ratnapura Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne had yesterday (25) sentenced the former retired Senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG) Lalith Wijesinghe  a five year rigorous imprisonment and ordered to pay Rs.20,000  as the fine over influencing the OIC in Kahawatte Police to avoid arresting the murder suspect  Podujana Peramuna MP Premalal Jayasekare alias "Choka malli" .


The Former retired Senior DIG was charged for  influencing  the Kahawatte OIC from carrying out his duties when he was the senior supirintendent of police in Ratnapura district.
