A Person Arrested In Possession Of 227 KG Kerala Cannabies

 Sri Lanka Navy had arrested a person with over 227 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabies in possession during a raid carried out in Ponnalai area of Jaffna district yesterday(05).

Navy had also taken into custody the Lorry 


used to smuggle the stock of Narcotics it has been reported .The stock of Narcotics is worth over Rs.75 million according to the Navy. The 31 year old  suspect is identified as a resident of Bandarawela  area and he along with the lorry had  been handed over to Waddukodai police for  a legal action .

Govt.To Provide MOP Fertilizer Free For All Farmers

 The Government is due to provide Muriate of Potash fertilizer known as " MOP " for all the Farmers in Sri Lanka in the upcoming Maha season the Minister Of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera had stated.



Under this programme a prescribed amount of MOP Fertilizer will be provided for farmers the Minister had revealed.



Navy Arrested Ten Persons Over Illegal Fishing

 Sri Lanka Navy had arrested 10 persons over illegally fishing in waters of Trincomalee area(Eastern Province )on Thursday(03) and Friday(04) it has been reported.


The Navy officers had taken in to custody a group of persons involved in illegal fishing activities at the waters in Nilaweli and Lankapatuna areas in Trincomalee along with three dinghy boats ,A stock of Ilegally caught fish and 116 illegally harvested sea cucumbers the Navy had stated.The 10 suspects are of the ages  24-48 years and residents  of Thambalagamuwa and Chinabay areas according to the Navy.

Water Tarrifs To Be Revised Once In Every Six Months

 The Ministry of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure  Development  had decided to introduce a price formula for Water tarrifs and  revise Water tarrifs once in every six months according to the Secretary to the Ministry R.M.W.S Samaradivakara .


The new Price formula will be based on the cost of Water treatment including Electricity bills and cost of Chemical substances he had stated.

The Ministry of Water Supply had increased the Warer tarrifs  with effect from 01st of August.
