Popular Yesteryear Actress Kanthi Gunathunge Passed Away
A Popular yesteryear actress of Sinhala Cinema in 1950's and 60's Kanthi Gunathunge had passed away whilst receiving treatment for an illness at a hospital In abroad .She was 86 years old at the time of her death.
She has won a local beauty contest held in 1956 and entered Sinhala Cinema afterwards.The late popular actress had acted in popular yesteryear movies like "Wanamohini,Sandeshaya ,Suraya ,Dostara and Surangani.Later she had acted in several tele dramas as well.
"May she atrain nibbana".
A Tense Situation Occurred In State Engineering Corporation Yesterday (07)
A tense situation occurred at the State Engineering Corporation premises in Cin Colombo yesterday (07) due to a group of Employees had taken the chairman of the Corporation Ratnasiri Kalupahana,as a hostage as a result of non payment of full salaries of Employees for the month of June .
The management of the State Engineering Corporation had payed half of the employee s Salaries need to be payed for the Month of June
After pledging to pay the remaining half of the salary the group of employees had left the premises .Meanwhile around 1100 employees of the State Engineering Company are applying to retire voluntarily .However due to the Current economic crisis the management is not in a position to find Rs.2.6 billion need to pay as compensation for those going to retire voluntarily the authorities had stated.

Former IGP Had Given A Three Month Extension
Government had offered another three month extension to former Inspector General Of Police(IGP) C.D Wikramaratne who had retired on 25 th of June .
IGP Wikramaratne who was retired on 25 th of March and given a three month extension by the President Ranil Wikramasinghe was formally appointed as IGP in 2020.

Police Had Arrested Three Persons In Possession Of A New Narcotic Drug
Police Officers attached to the Walana Anti Vice Striking Unit had arrested three persons in possession of 115 Grammes of a narcotic Drug "Mephedrone "(4-MMC) during a raid cartied out in Western Province yesterday (05).
This was the first time that narcotic drug was detected in Sri Lanka according to the Police.
