Former MP Ranga Was Arrested

 Former MP J Sri Ranga  has been arrested by the Police today (17) whilst receiving treatment at Colombo South Teaching Hospital over influencing witnesses of an accident occurred  at Vavuniya in 2011.


The Former MP  was admitted to the hospital at the time police were searching to arrest him

Two Persons Died Due To Car-Train Collision In Koggla

 Two persons died after the Motor car they were traveling in colliding with a Train at level crossing between Koggla and Thalpe areas in Koggla area (Southern Province) yesterday (16).The incident occurred when the driver of the car had recklessly driven the car over the level crossing when the train had been plying from Colombo to Beliatta .Lucknow Agra Expressway Accidents 5 killed 33 injured in separate road  accidents due to dense fog | India News – India TV

The deceased were 35 year old male and his 80 year old grand mother resided in Ahangama area according to the Police.Habaraduwa Police are conducting an Investigation on the incident .

Landslide Warnings To Two Districts

 Due to the Adverse weather Conditions  prevailing at present National Building Research Organization (NBRO) had issued landslide warnings to  Kurunagala and Ratnapura districts .


People living in slope and Mountainous  areas in Kurunagala and Ratnapura Districts  are being advised to be cautious of symptoms of  landslides.


Except Two Catagories All The Professions Involved In Wednesdays' Strike Called Off The Strike

 Except two catagories of all the professions in 47 sectors which launched an Island Wide strike on last Wednesday (15) against the tax system introduced by the government and several other demands had called off the strike last morning (16).


Accordingly University lecturers have decided to continue their strike action and Engineers attached to Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) had decided to continue their work  to rule campaign until  21 st of March .University lecturers had decided to refrain from participating marking G,C E A,/L examination papers during their strike .

Professions including Teachers ,Bankers,Health employees,Postal workers,Electricity board/Water board/Railways department/Ports authority  employees had  launched this strike against the new tax system introduced by the government.
