Public Utilities Commission Chairman Filed A Fundemental Rights Case Against Electricity Bill Hike

 The chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Janaka Ratnayake had filed a fundemental rights petition at the Supreme Court yesterday (10) against increasing the Electricity bill without his consent.

The Public Utilities Commission chairman had requested the Court through his petition  to issue an iterim order preventing  the implementation of the decision taken to increase Electricity Bill until taking his petition for consideration.

The Public utilites Commission chairman has named members of the Public utilities commission and few othets as the respondents of this case.

Five Persons Arrested Whilst Attempting To Smuggle Gold To Mumbai

Customs officers attached to the Anti narcotic Bureau of the Airport had arrested five persons including an Indian National whilst attempting to smuggle a stock of Gold pieces and Gold Jewelry weighing 10.5 Kilo grammes to Mumbai in India at the Katunayaka Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (11).

The suspects were arrested at the departure lounge of the Katunayake Airport it has been  reported.

The stock of Gold pieces and the Gold Jewelry taken in to custody in possession of the suspects is worth nearly Rs. 160 million according to Airport Customs .Airport customs officials are invedtigating on the incident .

Price Of Bread Reduced By Rs.10

 The Price of a loaf of Bread weighing 450 Grammes had been reduced by Rs.10 with effect from midnight last night (08)according to the All ceylon Bakery Owners Association.

This price reduction has been announced after the Wheat flour importers had reduced the  price of  Wheat flour by   Rchs.15 yesterday .

Price Of Wheat Flour Reduced By Rs.15

 Wheat  Flour Importers Prima and Serandib companies had decreased the Price of a Kilo Gramme of Wheat Flour by Rs.15 with effect from today (08) it has been announced.

The Price reduction has been made due to the strenghthening of the Sri lankan rupee against US Dollar the Prima company has stated.

The Prima Company had informed it's retail sellers regarding the Price reduction .m

Colombo Fort Magistrate Issued A Court Order Preventing Protest Marches In Maradana

The Colombo Fort Magistrate had issued a Court order preventing a group of Persons including the convener of the Inter University Students Federation Wasantha Mudalige by  entering to  key places in Colombo including The Presidents House,Ministry of finance and the Galle face .

 Meanwhile The Court had yesterday(07) issued an interim order preventing holding protest marches in several roads at Maradana Police division .
