President Instructed To Stop Importing Rice

 President Ranil Wikramasinghe has advised the Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera to stop the importation of rice  to the country due to the arrival of rice harvest of the Yala season to the market .Rice exports: Buyers resist price hike despite fears of weather affecting  crop - The Hindu BusinessLine

The Gazette notification in  this regard  is scheduled to be issued soon Minister Amaraweera has stressed .

A Special Holiday For Schools Today (09)

 The Ministry of Education has today (09)granted  a special leaves for all the schools Island wide due to the adverse weather pattern including the toxic air smog prevails in the country .



The air quality of  several cities in the country including Colombo and Kandy is being poor due to the flowing of toxic air particles from India National Building Research Orgxnization (NBRO)has stated .

Sapugasknde Oil Refinery To Resume Operations From 15th

 The Ministry Of Power and Energy has decided to resume operations in Sapugaskande Oil Refinery which is closed down due to the shortage of Crude oil ,from 15th of December .Refinery – CEYPETCO

Sapugaskande Oil Refinery will resume operations due to the arrival of  two ships containing 200,000 Metric tones of Crude oil to the country the Ministry has stated . The stock of Crude oil has already unloaded from the ships it has been stated .

Sapugaskande Oil Refinery had stopped it's functions as a result of Crude oil shortage .

A Person Was Arrested With 600 Narcotic Pills

 Dodangoda Police have arrested a Pharmacy Assistant attached to a Private Hospital in Maharagama area (Colombo District ) with 800 Narcotic pills in his possession according to Dodangoda Police.Police had also taken in to custody a mobile phone belongs to the suspect used  to distribute these narcotic pills ..Jerusalem rabbi arrested on suspicion of sex offenses against followers |  The Times of Israel

The suspect had brought these Narcotic pills to distribute among school children and students studying in Tuition classes Police have revealed .

Public Utilities Commission Refused To Allow Electricity Bill Hike

 Public Utilities Commission (PUC) will not allow any faction to increase the Electricity Bill the Chairman of the PSC Janaka  Rathanayake has stated .4-hour power cuts for the entire island on Thursday (24)

Although Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare is attempting to increase the Electricity bill by spreading false rumors like   if the Electricity bills will not be increased 6-8 hour long power cuts will be imposed from next January ,PUC will not allow such an increase  he had stressed.
