95 Percent Of The Construction Work In The Country Has Been Halted

 As a result of the shortage of Construction materials including Cement ,Sand and Bricks  and the price hike of them  95 percent of the Construction work in the Island has come to halt   these days  according to the Sri Lanka National Constructions Association ,




Due to this situation many employees at the Construction industry are being faced with severe economic difficulties the Association had stated ,Import restrictions  imposed on goods has lead to the shortage and price hike of many Construction materials the Association has stated . 

One Hour Power Cut To Be Extended By Another Twenty Minutes

The Public Utilities Commission had approved a One hour and twenty minute long Island Wide  Power cut for tomorrow (20) and the day after (21)due to the fuel shortage to generate power   according to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).


Accordingly this power cut will be implemented in 20 Zones marked as A,B,C,D,E ,FG,H,I.J.K,LP,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W from 6 p.m to 10 p.m the Board has stated .

Lotus Tower Had Earned Rs.7.5 Million As Income Since It"s Opening

 Since the opening of the  South Asia's second highest tall building "The lotus tower three days back ,It has received Rs.7.5 million as income according to the Lotus tower Private Limited .


Around 14,000 persons including foreigners  had visited the tower since the opening it the Company had stated .Due to the demand Lotus tower has extended the visiting hours to the public from 12 noon to 11 p.m during weekdays.

However the Tickets need to be purchased to view the tower will be issued only  until 10 p.m daily the company had  stated.




More Than 200,000 Left For Foreign Employment This Year

 During the first eight and half months of this year 221,023 persons had left abroad for foreign employment due to the current economic crisis according to the Foreign Employment Bureau .


Accordingly majority of these had gone to middle eastetn countries mainly to the Kuwait,United Arab Emirates ,Qatar and Saudi Arabia the Bureau has stated . Majority of these,employees are men it has been revealed.
