Treassury Secretary Wants All State Sector Employees To Return To Work From Tomorrow(24)

 Treasury Secretsry had issued a circular requesting all state sector employees  who are currently placed under work from home concept to report to work as usual from tomorrow (24)





Treasury secretary has issued this circular to all the heads of State institutions and departments. 

Due to the fuel crisis government has instructed all state sector employees to work from home from.24th of July until 24th of August .

Ministry Of Finance Banned Importting 367 Items

 The Ministry of Finance had temporarily banned the import of 367 Food,Garments and other items with immediate effect under the Inport Export Control Act it has been announced today (23)\.





 Chocolates ,Cocoa products ,Hand bags ,Cosmetic products ,Garments including children's wear,Mens and womens wear, Underwear products ,Home appliances, House repair devices are among those items that are being subjected to this ban the Ministry has stated 

Earlier the  Ministry of Finance had banned importing of several food items and fruits to the country need   due to the foreign reserve shortage .

President Wikramasinghe Given Approval To Detain Three Protestors For 90 Days

President Ranil Wikramasinghe had yesterday  (22) given his approval as the Defense Minister   to the detention of three Protesters for 90 days to question under the terrorism prevention act .despite the opposition of the western governments and European Union.


Accordingly, the President had given approval to the Police to  detain the Convener of the Inter University Students  Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige ,Hashantha Gunathilake  and Venerable Galwela Sirdhamma Thero for 90 days to question . 

The three protestors along with 16 others  had been arrested during the Anti Government Protest march held in Colombo  last Friday (19) over violating court orders .However, other 16 persons were released on bail later and the above three protesters are being  further detained under the orders of the Ministry of Defense .

Meanwhile US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chang has stated in a message posted to her Twitter account that the Sri Lankan government is slowly destroying the country's democracy by using acts like terrorism prevention act which violates the human rights and requested the government to ensure the freedom of expression of the people .


All Universities To Be Resumed Academic Activities Next Month

 All the universities which were closed down months back will be reopened for academic activities before the end of  this September according to the University Grants Commission .


At the moment the academic activities of All the universities are being  conducted through online and even after resuming academic activities lessons will be conducted through both Online and on sight modes the Chairman of the UGC Professor Sampath Amarathunge has stated .

After resuming Academic activities any student who wishes to continue lessons through Online can continue he had stressed .

Police Handed Over Three Protesters Including IUSF Convener To The CID

 Police had handed over the investigations on the three protesters including the convener of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige who had been arrested during the protest  held in Town hall few days back ,to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigations .


The three protesters are being currently under a 72 hour detention .Inspector General Of Police has instructed the CID to investigate whether there's a coup against the state .
