Police Arrested 12 Protesters During The Anti Government Protest Held In Colombo

 Police had arrested Twelve   protesters including the convener of the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) Wasantha Mudalige during the Anti - Government Protest March  held at Union Place in Colombo last  evening (18).


The Convener of the IUSF Wasantha Mudalige who had an arrest warrant issued against him by the Court was arrested whilst fleeing during the Protest march marched towards the President's Secretariat in Galle Face Colombo this evening .Police had used tear gas along with water cannons to disperse the Protesters it has been reported .

The Protest march which was attended by many Galle Face Protesters was grouped at Borella Junction in Colombo after facing  tear gas and water cannons fired by the Police .

Meanwhile, after hearing the arrest of the group of protesters during the Protest march held this evening, Public in North Cereal  Province and Students of  University Of Kelaniya had protested against the move  .

Two Persons Arrested With A Stock Of Gold Biscuits Illegally Brought To Sri Lanka

 Airport Custom Officers belong to the Narcotic Control Unit  had today (17) arrested two persons with a stock of illegal Gold biscuits in their possession at the Katunayake International Airport


The stock of Gold biscuits taken in to custody in possession of an air line passenger and a female who brought it from Dubai is weighing around 9.5 Kilo Grammes and worth around Rs.205 million it has  been revealed .

Laugfs Gas Prices Reduced

The price of a  12.5 KG Laugfs Gas Cylinder had been reduced by Rs.1050 with effect from  midnight tonight (17) according to the Laugfs Gas Company .


Accordingly the new price of the 12.5 KG Laugfs Gas Cylinder will be Rs.5800 the Company had announced .Also the Laugfs Gas Company had reduced the Price of 5KG Gas Cylinder to Rs.2320 and 2.5 KG Gas Cylinder had been reduced to Rs.928 it has been announced.

Government To Issue A Temporary License For Adani Group To Invest In Windmill Projects

 The government had issued a  temporary license for Adani Green Energy Group in India to invest more than US Dollars 500 mil;ion   Windmill Energy Projects at Pooneryn and Mannar areas(Northern Sri Lanka 


Social Media reported earlier that the Sri Lankan government has planned to issue   a license to Adani Group.  

President To End State Of Emergency Regulations On 18th Of August

The State of Emergency regulations currently in force in the Country will not  be extended after 18 th of August the date the regulations are scheduled to expire according to the President Ranil Wikramasinghe .


As the situation which caused the implementation of State of Emergency had returned to normalcy,I will not extend it and will let it  lapse on 18th of August  "President Wickramasinghe has stated during his speech at the 35th Annual Conference of the Organization Of Professional Association (OPA) held in Colombo today  (16).

President Wikramasinghe had imposed the State Of Emergency regulations last month due to the situation that occurred as a result of the Galle face protest.

A Diaspora office is also scheduled to be opened  in Colombo to get the support of the International Diaspora community to engage in the development work of  the country he has stressed,Sri Lanka's Government had lifted the ban imposed on six International Tamil organizations a few days ago,
