Postal Charges To Be Increased From Tomorrow (15)

 The postal charges are scheduled to be increased with effect from tomorrow (15) according to the Sri Lanka Postal Department ,





According to the increase the Postal charge of an ordinary letter  will be increased to Rs .50 from Rs.15 and the Registered Postal fee of Rs.45 will be increased to Rs.110 .The freight charges will be increased to Rs.200 for goods weighing up to 250 grammes .

However several other Postal charges are due to be lowered according to the Postal Department .

Price Of An Egg And Chicken Had Been Increased

The Price of Egg and Chicken had been increased according to the All Ceylon Poultry Producers Association .


Accordingly the Price of an Egg had been increased  by Rs.10 to Rs.62 and the Price of a Kilo Gramme of a frozen  Chicken had been increased by Rs.100 to Rs.1200 the Association has stated .

The prices of these products had been increased due to the rising demand and the shortage of animal it has been revealed .

Spaugaskande Oil Refinery To Begin Operations From Next Monday -Ministry Of Power And Energy


 The Sapugaskande Oil Refinery which was shutdown due to the shortage of Crude oil is scheduled to be re started it's operations from next Monday (15) according to the Ministry of Power and Energy .



Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare had told at the Parliament last Wednesday (10) that a Crude Oil Ship is due to be arrived in the Country today (13) ant the functions of Sapugaskande Oil Refinery will begin on 15th of August .After resuming operation of the refinery supplying of Kerosene Oil to the Industry will begin from 18th of August the Ministry has stated ,

The Minister had also stated a Ship carrying 35,000 ,Metric tones of Petrol scheduled to be arrived on last Thursday and the unloading of the petrol will begin Yesterday ,However details on that ship had not yet been revealed .

A Fuel Bowser Had Been Toppled Over The Bridge At Kelaniya

 A Fuel  Bowser driver had been injured and hospitalized  after the Bowser he had driven toppled over from the Jeyaraj Fernandopulle Fly over bridge at Kelaniya in the wee hours of this morning (13) 


The incident occurred after the driver had fallen asleep whilst at the wheel .The fuel of the bowser had been shifted to  another Bowser by the authorities according to the Police.

Private Buses To Limit Travel During Weekends

 Private Bus owners had restricted the functioning of Private Buses during the weekends according to the Lanka  Private Bus Owners Association .


This step has been taken due to the closure of Schools and offices during weekends the Association ha stated. However even during weekdays Private Buses are not functioning as usual public had complained .Due to the limit imposed on fuel distribution Many Private buses are not running at the moment it has been reported .
