President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe who had left the President's house due to the public uprising on 09th of July had fled to Maldives in wee hours of this morning (13) by a Special Airforce Plane according to sources His wife and two security officers had accompanied him and the Plane carrying them was due to be touched down Male International Airport this morning the sources have added .
However there's no confirmation on the Sri Lankan President's arrival to Male as yet .President Rajapakshe is due to resign from his post this morning after landing Maldives it has been reported ,He had already signed his resignation letter and handed over to the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena speaker has stated .However Speaker has not yet been announced the President's resignation officially and it is expected to happen that in the course of the day .
President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe had attempted to flee from the country five times during yesterday and all those attempts had failed due to the disruptions of Immigration and Emigration officials it has been revealed ,However early this morning Sri lanka Airforce officers had managed to get confirmation for the Immigration Emigration Documents of President and his wife from officials which enable them to fly to Maldives . They had later went to aboard the Antanov-32 special Airforce plane at Katunayake International Airport and left to Maldives ,Sri Lanka Airforce had confirmed .
