A sum of up to Rs.7500 each will be provided for 3.2 million families in the country badly affected due to the current economic crisis according to the Minister of Plantations Dr,Ramesh Pathirana .
These families will be received this financial assistance under the US Dollars 400 million aid granted by World Bank and Asian Development Bank .Both World Bank and Asian Development Bank had provided Sri Lanka US Dollars 200 million each as financial aid .This relief allowance will be provided for the above families within next six months the Minister has stressed .
Litro Gas Company has today (30) signed an agreement at the Ministry Of Finance to purchase 100,000 LP Gas Cylinders for the country to end Gas queues of consumers .
The total value of this Gas cylinder stock is US Dollars 90 million and out of this money US Dollars 70 million will be provided by World Bank and another US Dollars 20 million to be allocated by Litro Gas Company ,Around 70 percent of these Gas cylinder will be delivered for consumers ,
This stock Of Gas cylinders are sufficient for a four month period it has been announced,
Due to the Current Fuel Crisis faced by the country Motor Traffic Department at Narahenpita (Colombo District ) will be functioned only three days per week from this week according to Motor Traffic Commissioner General Sumith Alahakoon ,
Accordingly the Department will be closed on Thursday's and Friday's until further notice .
Meanwhile All the Public and Private Commercial Banks in the country will be opened from 9 a.m to 1 p.m daily due to the Fuel crisis Banks had announced today (29).
Postal Department and Department for Registration Of Persons had also decided to function three days per week from this week due to poor attendance of it's employees as a result of Fuel shortage .
