Navy Captured A Fishing Vessel With 47 Persons Illegally Migrating To Australia

Sri Lanka Navy had captured a Multiple fishing trawler with 47 persons on board sailing  illegally  towards an Island in Australia through sea routes ,At western seas of Negambo area .


Among the apprehended individuals there were 34 males with 05 who are involved in the racket ,06 females and 07 children it has been reported .Along with these individuals the fishing vessel that had been used for the illegal journey was also held by the Navy .

They were handed over to the Colombo Harbor police for future legal proceedings ,



LIOC Again Reduced The Fuel Limit Due To Fuel Shortage

 Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC ) had again reduced the limit of  Fuel issued for the vehicles due to the Fuel shortage faced by the Country at present .


Accordingly LIOC Fuel stations are  to issue Rs.1500 worth fuel for Motorcycles at once ,Rs.2500 worth fuel for Three wheelers and ,Rs.7000 worth fuel for other vehicles it has been reported ,Earlier LIOC Fuel  stations had issued Rs.2500 worth fuel for Motorcycles,Rs.3000 worth fuel for Three wheelers and Rs.10,000 worth fuel for other vehicles at once  

National Transport Commission To Give Approval To Increase Bus Fares

 National Transport Commission has decided  to give approval to a request made by Private Bus Owners to increase the  Bus fares by 30 percent and to increase the minimum Bus fare to Rs.40 with effect from 01st of July ,

National Transport Commission had decided to approve the request made by Bus owners regarding the price increase of Bus fares by tomorrow(29) it has been announced. Private Bus Owners has made this request during the talks held with Minister Of Transport Bandula Gunawardane and Transport Ministry Officials in Colombo this evening (28).

Private Buses Withdrawn From Roads Due To Fuel Shortage

Due to the current fuel shortage Private Bus owners have decided to stop functioning Private Buses island wide from today (28) Private Bus Owners have stated .


According to the Ceylon Private Bus Owners Association and All Ceylon Private Bus owners Association Private buses will be completely withdrawn from roads from today due to the situation ,Government has yesterday announced Fuel will be issued to essential services only from midnight last night until 10th of July due to the shortage of fuel reserves in the country ,

Meanwhile Colombo City became deserted today due to the low presence of vehicles as a result of the fuel shortage ,

Trains To Run As Usual

Although most of the activities in the country will  come in  to standstill due to the fuel shortage from midnight tonight (27), Trains will run as usual due to the availability of Fuel according to the Sri Lanka Railways Department ,


Trains will run as usual without any delay the Department has stated ,

Government To Restrict The Issuing Of Fuel -Requested Employees To Work From Home From Tomorrow(28)

 Government has decided to issue fuel only for the essential services with effect from midnight tonight (27) until 10th of July in view of preserve the limited quantity of Fuel available in the country at present Cabinet spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardane has stated today (27) .


Accordingly During the that period fuel will be issued only for the essential services Including Health ,Defense ,Power ,Export industries and Tourism industry and Private vehicles will not  receive fuel .All state and private sector employees are being asked to work from homeduring the period  Minister gunawardane has stressed . 

Inter provincial transport activities are being restricted during that  period and Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Buses will run only short distance journeys  it has been announced ,However all shops and Pharmacies will  remain open during that period ,
