No More Power Cuts During Morning Session For A Two Week Period -Public Utilities Commission

 A Decision had been taken not to impose power cuts from 7 a.m to 1 p,m  during next two weeks to facilitate online education of School children the Public Utilities Commission had announced.


Accordingly two hours and thirty minutes long power cut will be imposed during above period daily from 1 p.m to 10.30 p.m the Commission had stated .

Minister Of Power Want Public To Restrict Movements Amidst Current Fuel Crisis

 Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare had today (19) requested the public not queue up for Petrol ,Diesel and Kerosene oil in front of Fuel stations for the next three to four days until the fuel shipments arrive ,


Government has opened a letter of credit for US Dollars 90 million for a shipment of  Petrol and Diesel he had stated ,The shipment of Petrol is due to arrive in Colombo harbor on 23rd of June and the Shipment of Diesel on 24th of June the Minister has stressed.

Private buses will receive  fuel from the nearest Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Depot and School ,Staff and Tourist vehicles too receive fuel from the nearest SLTB Depot Minister Wijesekare has said ,A plan to issue fuel for Essential services will be implemented from this Friday and Fuel will be issued for Three wheelers and Motorcycles  for twice a week basis he has stated.


"Public should restrict unnecessary travels these days in view of the current fuel crisis  " Minister had further said ,

Eastern Terminal In Colombo Harbor Will Not Hand Over To A Foreign Company-Minister Of Ports

 The Eastern Terminal of the Colombo Harbor will not  be handed over either to the Adani Company in India or to any other private company  as planned earlier Minister of Ports ,Shipping and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva has stated  yesterday  (17).


The Eastern terminal of the Colombo  harbor will be continued  to function  under the Sri Lanka Ports Authority  it self the Minister has stated .Sri Lanka Ports Authority has planned to purchase few cranes for the terminal from a Chinese company at a cost of US Dollars 278 million he has stressed .

Six Policemen Were Injured Due To A Tense Situation In Athurugiriya Fuel Station

 Six Policemen were injured and hospitalized due to a tense situation occurred  at a Fuel station in Athurugiriya area (Colombo District ) according to the Department Of Police .


The injured Policemen were admitted to the Homagama District Hospital for treatment, They were injured when they have arrived at the Fuel station to control a tense situation occurred among the people in queue after finishing the fuel in the station.

Police have arrested Nine persons including a female regarding the incident , 


Ministry Of Education To Close All Schools In Major Cities Next Week- Students to Learn Online

 Ministry Of Education has decided to close down all the schools in Major cities and suburbs for a week period from next Monday to Friday due to the transport difficulties faced by School children as a result of the current fuel shortage in the country .


The school children in those schools which are due to be closed next week will be attended online classes daily from 8 a.m to 1 p.m during that period the Ministry has stated ,

Meanwhile the Public Utilities Commission has stated that there will be no more power cuts from 8 a.m to 1 p.m next week due to the online classes conducted for school children ,
