Litro Gas Distribution To Be Resumed Tomorrow (31)

 A Ship carrying 3500 Metric tones of LP Gas had arrived in Colombo Harbor today (30) according to the Litro Gas Company .


The Gas stock is currently being unloaded from the Ship and Litro Company is due to distribute 60,000 Gas Cylinders per day from tomorrow (31) the Company ha stressed .

Sri Lanka has paid US Dollars 6.5 million for a shipment of 7500 Metric tones of LP Gas and another shipment of 4000 Metric tones of Gas is scheduled to be reached the Country soon it has been reported .

Sri Lanka Needs US Dollars 554 To Purchase Fuel For June

 Sri Lanka needs US Dollars 554 million to import fuel for the month of June and out of that  only have US Dollars 100 million received under the Indian credit line so far for this purpose according to the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekare ,


According to the Minister he is due to hold talks with the Central Bank to get the remaining US Dollars 454 to purchase fuel However Central Bank is facing a US Dollars shortage at the moment it has been earlier announced ,

Meanwhile Minister of Power is planning to hold talks with Indian officials regarding another loan scheme in view of purchase fuel for the country it has been reported ,

Police Fired Tear Gas To Disperse A Group Of Medical Students Marching Towards Fort

 Police had fired Tear gas and water cannons to disperse a group of Medical Faculty students attached to Colombo Medical Faculty this evening (29)when they had attempted to enter Bank Road  near World Trade Center at Colombo Fort .


The protesters belonging to the  Medical Faculty Student Action Committee had begun their protest march near Nelum Pokuna Theater in Colombo by demanding end to the deal politics which helped to protect thieves ,and marching  towards     Galle face green at the time of the incident  ,Protesters  had later joined the Galle face protesters at Galle face green in Colombo .

Fisheries Minister Distributed 15,000 Liters Of Kerosene Oil Sent By India Among Jaffna Residents

 Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devanada had distributed 15,000 Liters of Kerosene oil received through the Indian credit line among the residents of  islands in Jaffna district (Northern Province )it has been reported .


The Indian Government had sent this stock of Kerosene Oil to be distributed among low income groups to ease the economic crisis faced by Sri Lanka at present .

Train Passengers Had Been Increased By 50 Percent Due To Bus Fare Hike

 As a result of the Bus fare hike and Fuel crisis faced by  the country the number of Train passengers is being increased by 50 percent   according to the Sri Lanka Railways  department.



Due to the heavy demand for  travelling  in Trains ,Railways Department had added two   additional carriages each for few trains today (29) the Department had stated .Authorities have planned to add another two carriages each to few other trains by tomorrow it has been reported .

Train tickets in Outstation Railway stations had been already sold out due to the higher demand for travelling in trains .
