42 Government MP's Remain As An Independent Group In Parliament As Govt .Lost It's Majority

 During the Parliament proceedings held today (05) 42 MP's representing allied parties of the Government have  announced that  they will remain as an Independent Group in Parliament by creating a situation that Government has lost it's majority .


Accordingly former President and the Chairman of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Maithripala Sirisena had announced that 14 SLFP Parliamentarians will be functioned as an independent group in the Parliament from  today and Former Minister Wimal Weerawanshe had informed the speaker that 16 members of  the Government including himself will remain as an Independent Group .

Twelve MP s representing Sri Lanka Progressive Party (Sri lanka Podujana Peramuna ) too had announced that they will remain as an independent group in Parliament.

Huge Protest Campaign Is Underway In Front Of Prime Minister's Official Residence

 Huge Protest is being underway in front of the Official residence of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe at Wijerama Road ,Colombo -07 since this evening (05) .


A large number of Police personal are being deployed to provide  security to the official residence of Premier it has  been reported ,The protesters including many University students are shouting slogans against the Premier and government according to reports .

Hundreds Of Thousands Of People Held Protests Against The Government Today (04)

Hundreds of Thousands of people had today (04)  protested Island wide against President Gotabahya Rajapakshe and present Government demanding the rulers to go home and pave the way to elect a new government .


Protesters held protests in Colombo ,Kandy ,Polonnaruwa ,Anuradhapura ,Kegalle and many other areas today and even raided the houses of former Government Ministers including Pavithra Wanniarachhi ,Roshan Ranasinghe ,Chamal Rajapakshe, Shasheendra Rajapakshe,Nimal Lansa ,Gamini Lokuge ,Rohitha Abeygunawardane ,Ramesh Pathirana  and Roshan Ranasinghe  as well as Prime Minsiter Mahinda Rajapakshe .

Protesters had stormed in to the residence of state Minister Roshan Ranasinghe in Polonnaruwa and destroyed furniture and other goods in the house  it has been revealed .Police had fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse many of these protests .

Meanwhile Sri Lankans in foreign countries too staged protest campaigns requesting government including President to step down immediately ..

Public Anger Over Appointing Previous Cabinet Members To The New Cabinet

 A tense situation occurred among public today (04) after the President Gotabhaya Rajapakshe had Appointed four members of the previous Cabinet which resigned yesterday (03) amidst public anger over present government to the New Cabinet he had named today .



President Rajapakshe had appointed members of the previous Cabinet Dinesh Gunwardane ,Johnston Fernando ,Professor G.L Pieris  and Ali Sabri as Ministers of Education ,Highways ,Foreign Affairs and Finance respectively .

Although President Rajapaskhe had requested all parties to join the Cabinet in view of  solving  the present economic crisis faced by  the country ,Main Opposition Samgi Janabalawegaya Party as well as United National Party ,Tamil National Alliance and Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna had rejected the offer .

Meanwhile protesters who had protested against the government had stated today they want the whole government to step down and hold fresh elections under an Interim caretaker government .The family members of President Gotabahya Rajpakshe and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe had decided not to accept any Portfolio in new Cabinet as Public demands that  there should be no Rajapakshe family member in the Cabinet .

Government Set To Loose Two Third Majority In Parliament Tomorrow (05)

 Government is set to loose the two third majority they cuurently have in the Parliament  tomorrow (05) as around 80 Parliamentarians attached to the Government  have  decided to function as Independent groups when the Parliament meet tomorrow .

he ruling Sri ;Lanka Progressive Front (Podujana Peramuna ) ,another 16 MP's representing allied Parties of the government and 14 Sri Lanka Freedom Party MP's attached to the Government are due to be functioned as independent groups it has been reported .

Meanwhile former Ministers Udaya Gammanpila and Wimal Weerawanshe have stated that the Government will not only loose the two third majority in the Parliament But majority of the Parliament as well .
