A Five Hour Long Power Cut Is Scheduled To Be Implemented In 12 Zones Tomorrow (18)

 There will be a five hour long Power cut scheduled to be implemented in 12 out of the 20 zones in the Island tomorrow (18) due to the shortage of fuel to generate power according to Public Utilities Commission .


Accordingly a five hour long Power cut will be implemented from "A " to "L" Zones with  three hours and twenty minute long power cut  between 8 a.m to 6 p.m and another one hour and forty minutes long power cut  between 6 p.m to 11 p.m the Commission had stated .

There will be a three hours and fifteen minute long power cut scheduled to be implemented in 08 zones from "P " to "W "with  two hours long power cut between 9 a,m to 5 p.m and one hour and 15 minute long power cut  between 5 p.m to 10 p.m .

Three Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (17)

 A Total of 03 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (17) ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 16,419 the Director General Of Health Services (DGHS ) has announced.


Accordingly 02 males and a female had died due to Corona infection the DGHS has stated .All the deceased were over 60 years of age it has been revealed .

Another 301 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today (17)

 Another 301 Corona Positives had been reported in the country today (17) increasing the total number of Corona Positives reported so far to 657,435 according to Epidemiology Unit .


At the moment 16,576 Corona Positives are being treated at Hospitals ,Quarantine Centers and under home care system the Unit has stated .

Only 4129 PCR Tests and 2740 Rapid Antigen Tests had been performed in the country yesterday (16) according to Health Promotions Bureau .

Minister Of Power To Submit A Cabinet Paper To Increase Electricity Fares

 Minister of Power Pavithra Wanniarachchi had decided to submit a Cabinet paper to the cabinet next monday (21) regarding the increase of Electricity fares .


A discussion was held in this regard at the Ministry of Power yesterday (16) between the Minister and Electricity Board officials it had been reported.The proposal regarding the increasing of  electricity fares has been made by Electricity board to solve the current power crisis .
