Sri Lanka To Lift Travel Bans Imposed On Six African Countries where Omicron Is Spreading

Although other countries had imposed strict travel bans for travelers in  Many African countries Including South Africa to prevent the spreading of new Omicron Corona variant ,Sri Lankan Authorities had today (10) decided to lift the travel ban imposed over six African countries where Omicron variant is spreading rapidly 


According to the Civil Aviation Authority Sri Lanka had lifted the travel ban issued for South Africa ,Botswana ,Namibia ,Lesatho ,Zimbabwe and Swaziland with immediate effect .President too had instructed the officials during the Covid Control Committee meeting held today to lift the travel bans imposed in foreign countries in  view of promoting local tourist industry .

Sri Lanka To Make Corona Vaccination Card Compulsory When Entering Public Places

Covid Prevention Special Committee which met today (10) under the patronage of President Gotabhya Rajapakshe  had decided to make the Corona Vaccination card compulsory when entering Public places shortly .


Under this   unvaccinated people are not allow to   enter  Public places  the Committee has stated .Government had received legal advise of Attorney General  regarding making vaccination card compulsory when  entering  public places President had stressed during the meeting .

Meanwhile Health authorities had approved the  administering  second Anti Corona vaccine dose to the School Children belongs to 16-19 age group and the first vaccine dose to children of  12-15 year age group  It has been revealed .President had advised the authorities to administer these doses with the support of  Education Ministry .

18 Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (10)

 Another 18 Corona deaths had been reported in the country  today (10) ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 14,573 according to Director General Of Health Services (DGHS) .


Accordingly 09 males and 09 females had died due to Corona infection the DGHS has stated ,Out of the deceased 15 were over 60 years of age and 03 were belonged to the age group 30-60 years it has been revealed .

754 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today (10)

 A total of 754 Corona positives had been reported in the country today (10),Increasing the total number of Corona Positives reported so far to 571,426 according to Epidemiology Unit .

At the moment 12,653 Corona positives are being treated at Hospitals ,Quarantine Centers and under Home care system the Unit has stated .

Only 7580 PCR Tests and 4971 Rapid Antigen Tests had been performed in the country yesterday 09) according to Health Promotions Bureau ,
