First Sri Lankan Infected With Omicron Variant Had Been Identified
The first Corona positive infected with the new contagious "omicron *variant had been identified in Sri Lanka today (03)according to Health circles .
The 25 year old patient who is a female arrived in from Nigeria is a resident in Marawila area it had been reported .She was tested positive for Omicron varient through an on arrival.PCR performed on her at the Katunayake International Airport in.Colombo.
Tracing of her contacts is underway at present the Health Sources has stated .

An Islandwide Power Failure put Everything In Halt
An Islandwide power failure had been ocvurrrd today (03) in the country which lasted atound six hours due to a sudden collapse of the main transmission system between kotmale sub gtid and Biyagama sub gtid according to the Ceylon Electricity board .
The power failure which occurred around 11.25 a.m this morning had lasted untill 7 p.m the Board has stated.Restoring of the eoectricity Islandwide has been done through few stages .
Due to the sudden power failure huge traffic had been seen on roads and in front of Fuel stations .Also many events had been cancelled as a result of the power failure .
20 Corona Deaths Reported Today (03)
A total of 20 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (03) ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 14,419 according to Director General Of Health Services (DGHS) .
Another 725 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today (03)-Daily PCR And Rapid Antigen Tests Had Been Decreased Further
Another 725 Corona Positives had been reported in the country today (03) after dropping the number of PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests performs per day according to Health Sources .
With this number the total number of Corona Positives reported so far in the country had been raised to 566,196 according to Epidemiology Unit .
At the moment 10,241 Corona Positives are being treated at Hospitals ,Quarantine Centers and Under home care system the Unit has stated .
According to the Health sources only 7836 PCR Tests and 4025 Rapid Antigen Tests had been performed in the Country yesterday (02) after announcing the performing of these tests had been increased with effect from this week.
