Government Had Lifted The Controlled Price of Sugar

Government has decided to withdraw the Controlled  price imposed on Sugar with immediate effect due to the  sugar shortage in local market at present  .This decision had been taken during the meeting held between Sugar importers and Finance Minister Basil Rajapakshe today (02) .

After the discussions held with Sugar Importers ,Finance Minister Basil Rajapakshe had advised the Consumer Affairs Authority to issue a gazette notification tomorrow (03( regarding the withdrawing of Controlled price of sugar ..The aim of this decision is to provide Sugar to consumers without any shortage the Consumer Affairs Authority has stated , 

According to the imposed Controlled price of Sugar  a Kilo of of White sugar (without the Pack)  had sold to Rs.122 and a Kilo of Brown Sugar (without the pack ) had been sold to Rs.128 .

A Total Of 10 Corona Deaths Had Been Reported Today (02)

 Another 10 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (02) ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far in the country to 13,770 according to the Director General Of Health Services (DGHS) .

 Accordingly 05 Males and 05 females had died due to Corona infection the DGHS has stated. Out of the deceased  08 were over 60 years of age and one of the deceased was belonged to 30-60 year age group .Another Corona death was reported from the under 30 year age category .

 Another 572 Corona Positives had been identified in the country today (02) ,Increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 542,212 According to Epidemiology Unit ,

At the moment 14,902 Corona positives are being treated at Hospitals /Quarantine Centers and under Home care system the Unit has stated .

A total of 6109 PCR Tests and 2630 Rapid Antigen Tests had been performed in the country during yesterday (01 ) it has been revealed .

A Kenyan National Who Swallowed 50 Cocaine Balls Had Been Arrested At The Katunayake Airport

The officials attached to the Narcotic Control Bureau of Sri Lanka Customs had yesterday (31)arrested a Kenyan National who had arrived in the country after swallowing nearly 50 Cocaine balls it has been revealed .


The stock of Cocaine Balls stored in the stomach of the suspect had been taken out by the suspect himself .it  has been  stated . The suspect and the Cocaine Balls  had been handed over to the police Anti Narcotics Unit  for further investigations

Landslide Warnings Issued To Eight Districts


The National Building Research Organization (NBRO)  had issued landslide warnings to eight districts due to the heavy showers prevailing in the country at present .
