Teachers Unions To Continue Online Teaching Boycott
Teachers Unions which had launched boycotting "Online Teaching for School Children had two weeks back had decided to continue with strike according to Union sources ,
Earlier they have demanded to release the president of the Ceylon Teachers Union Jospeh Stalin and other activists who were arrested by the police over conducting a protest in Colombo against Kothalawala Defense Academy act citing violating Anti Corona health guidelines .However after the releasing of activists few days back from quarantine ,Now the teachers unions want to provide solutions to the demands ,of removing salary anomalies of teachers and withdrawal the Kothalawala Act .
Due to t he strike thousands of School children who are learning through online teaching since the closure of schools as a result of Corona pandemic had faced enormous difficulties
43 Corona Positives Had Been Reported From An Area Released From Isolation
According to the authorities 43 Corona Positives had been reported from a Rural Development officer (Grama Sewa Niladhari area ) in Hulnkapolla ,Welimada (Badulla District ) after removing the isolation status there .
The isolation imposed at the Hulankapolla area from 24th of June had been removed last Wednesday (14 ) and afterwards tests carried out there revealed that 43 persons in the area are being infected with Corona virus ,
1447 Corona Positives Reported Yesterday (17)
a Total of 1447 Corona Positives had been reported in the island yesterday (17) increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 283,512 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center
.At the moment 23 103 Corona positives are being treated at Government hospitals and treatment centers the Center has stated ,Meanwhile 1446 Corona positives had been reported in the country last Friday (16),

31 Corona Deaths Reported Today (17)
Another 31 Corona deaths had been reported today (17) in the island ,Increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 3733 according to National Covod -10 Prevention Center
.Accordingly 17 males and 14 females had died due to the Covid Pneumonia and complications related to non communicable diseases they have suffered from as a result of Corona infection the Center has stated/
Out of the deceased 23 were over 60 years of age it has been revealed ,

41 Corona Deaths Reported Today (16)
A Total number of 41 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (16) increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 3702 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center .
Accordingly 23 males and 18 females had died from Covid pneumonia and complications related to non communicable diseases they have suffered from it has been revealed ,Out of the deceased 29 were of the ages over 60 years .
