500,000 Doses Of Oxford -AstraZeneca -Covishield Vaccine Airlifted To Colombo

 Boxes containing 500,000 doses of 'the  'Oxford-Astrazeneca -Covishield ',Anti Corona Vaccine had been airlifted to Sri Lanka this noon for the use of an emergency situation here it has been reported .The stick of vaccine doses had been airlifted to Sri Lanka as a donation it has been revealed .


The doses of  'Covishield "vaccine which received an approval from the World Health Orgsnization to use to fight against Corona virus in an emergency situation ,had been airlifted to Sri Lanka accordance to a request made by Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapskshe from Indian premier Narendra Singh Modi ..

The Indian Airlines flight AI-281 carrying  42 boxes containing the 500,000 doses of the 'Covishield" vaccine had landed at  the Katunayake International Airport in Colombo this noon and President Rajapskshe had been officially received the vaccine stock  at the Airport  from Indian High commissioner in Colombo . .

These vaccine doses are scheduled to be given to the  frontline workers involved in the fight against corona in the country including health care workers and security forces personal 

China To Provide 300,000 Doses of Chinese "Sinopham",Anti Corona Vaccine To Sri Lanka

 Sri Lanka will receive 300,000 doses  from the One of the Anti Corona Vaccines developed by China "Sinopharm" in mid February  for emergency use the Chinese Embassy in Colombo has announced yesterday (27).


The Chinese Vaccine which is currently being assessed by World Health Orgsnization. To approve for emergency use will be received by Sri Lanka as a donation .

The vaccine which was developed by a state owned company in China is 79 percent effective against Corona virus the developer has stated ."Sinopham ' vaccine  has already passed three  clinical trials and used in several middle eastern and asian countries according to Chinese Embassy in Colombo .

742 Corona Positives Reported Yesterday (27)

 A total of 742 Corona Corona positives had been reported yesterday (27) increasing  the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 60,694 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center .


Accordingly all these positives reported  yesterday were contacts of the previous Corona positives reported from Minuwangoda Paliyagoda and prisons clusters the Center has stated .

At the moment 7838 Corona positives are being treated at Government hospitals and treatment centers .

Two Corona Deaths Reported Today (27)

 Another 02 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (27),raising the total number of Corona deaths reported so far to 290 according to National Covid -19 Prevention Center. 


Accordingly a 43 year old male resident of Colombo -15 and a 74 year old female resident of Gonapola  areas had died today at Homagama Base and Hiram's base hospitals respectively .The deceased had  died due to the complications of the non communicable diseases they have suffered from.caused by Corona infection .
