Four Prison Inmates Were Killed -Twrnty Five Were Injured Due To A Tense Situation At Mahara Prison

 Four prison inmates attached to Mahara prison were killed and twenty five inmates had been injured and hospitalized as a result of the gun shots fired by prison officials to control the tense situation occurred  among inmates on Sunday (29) evening .

The injured inmates were admitted to Ragama Teaching hospital for treatment.

The incident had occurred when a group of prison inmates at Mahara prison had attempted to escape from prison by breaking the main door of the prison .

A fire occurred inside the prison after the gun shooting and fire brigade  also arrived at the scene .

Department of police had deployed police teams and special task force personal to control the situation it has been reported .

Meanwhile a group of relatives of some prison inmates  arrived at the prison premises to check on whether their relatives also affected due to the incident .

Seven Corona Deaths Had Been Reported On Sunday (29)

 Another 07 Corona deaths had been reported in the country today (29) increasing the total number of Corona deaths reported in the country to 117 according to Epidemeology Unit .

Accordingly four males and three females resided in Colombo -02, Gothatuwa, Moratuwa ,Chilaw ,Akurassa,Colombo -13 and Maradana areas had died due to the complications of Corona infection the unit has stated .

They were of the ages 50,48,73,70,51,90and 78 years and some of them died whilst at home .

496 Corona Positives Had Been Reported In The Country Today (29)

 A total of 496 Corona positives had been reported in the country today (29)increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far from here to 23,484 according to Epidemeology Unit .

Accordingly all these Corona positives reported today were  close contacts of Paliyagoda Fish Market Cluster the unit has stated .With these positives the  number of members of the Minuwangoda Brandix /Paliyagoda Fish market cluster had been increased to 19,946

At the moment  6366 Corona positives are being treated at Government hospitals and treatment centers .

Corona Positives Reported From Pettah And Hanwella Areas

 Ten persons at Abdul hameed  street in Pettah ,Colombo and 12 workers attached to a Factory at thunnana area in Hanwella had been tested positive for Corona virus according to the authorities .

Accordingly the factory in Hanwalla area had been closed down after reporting the positives .

Meanwhile a section of the Dabare road in Narahenpita and 1050 houses at Kawumwatte in Kalubowila ,Dehiwala area had been isolated yesterday (27)after reporting few corona cases from those areas .
