The second reading of the controversial 20 th Constitutional amendment had been passed in the parliament yesterday t(22) with two third majority ,as 156 MP'Ss voted for and 65 voted against the Amendment
Three MP" s belonging to main opposition Samagi Janabalawegaya' party including it's Assistant Secretary Diana Gsmage voted in favour of the Constitutional Amendment as well as few MP"s of the party"s of MP's Rauf Hakeem and Rishad Baduideen who were voted against the Amendment .
However former President and. Current MP Maithripala Sirisena was absent at the time of the voting .President Gotabaya Rajapskshe had also present at the parliament during the voting held last evening to witness the event .
During the Committee stage of the third reading ,the Amendment has passed again with 156 voted for and 65 ,voted against it and the 17 th clause of the Amendment which allows dual citizens to enter parliament had been also approved during the voting when 157 voted in favour of the clause which was scrapped by previous goodg government whilst 64 voted against it .
The controversial 20 th Amendment gives more executive powers to President which scrapped through the 19 the Constitutional Amendment by former Good governance government
Even those within the government who had opposed dual citizens entering parliament finally changed their mind and voted in favour of the clause which surprised to many .
Main opposition Samagi Janabalawegaya' Party has decided to take disciplinary action agsinst it's deputy Secretary the National list MP Diana Gamage who had voted in favour of the Amendment by going against the party decision .
