Former MP Ruwan Wijewardane Has Been Elected As The Deputy Leader Of UNP
Former MP of United National Party
(UNP) Ruwan Wijewardane had been elected as the new Deputy Leader of the Party through a secret ballot held at the Working committee meeting held at UNP Headquarters in Colombo yesterday (14).
During the secret ballot Ruwan Wijewardane had received 28 votes whilst his opponent former UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake had received 10 votes.
However UNP Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe is due to remain as the leader of UNP until next January.

Twenty Eight Corona Positives Had Been Reported Yesterday (14)
A total of 28 Corona positives had been
reported yesterday (14) in the country, Increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 3262 according to Epidemeology Unit.
Accordingly 11 arrivals from United Arab Emirates, 04 arrivals from Bangladesh, 04 arrivals from Bahrain, ,01 arrival each from Kuwait, Qatar, Vietnam and 05 navel man arrived from India and a close contact of the Corona positive died yesterday had tested positive for Corona virus yesterday .
At the moment 244 Corona positives are being treated at Government Hospitals.

Thirteenth Corona Death In The Country Has Been Reported Today (14)
A 60 year old Sri Lankan Naval man
returned from Bahrain recently has died today (14)due to Corona virus infection at Chilaw Base hospital it has been reported .
This was the 13 th Corona death reported from Sri Lanka according to hospital sources .
The deceased who was a resident of Nugegoda area in Colombo had returned to Sri Lanka on 02 nd of September and he had been admitted to Chilaw base Hospital on 09 th after falling sick whilst under quarantine.
He has died due to a heart problem and only after his death it has been confirmed that he was a corona positive it has been revealed .
He had tested negative for the Corona Virus in the first PCR test performed on him after arriving here.

Seven Persons Were Critically Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Road Accident

children had been critically injured and hospitalized after a Three Wheeler travelling from Agarapathana area to Kotagala on Nuwara Eliya -Hatton road had collided with a Bus stand cover at Pathana junction last evening (13).
The injured including three persons traveling in the three Wheeler and three Students and a female at the Bus stand were admitted to Kotagala Provincial Hospital
The incident occurred as the Three driver 's inability to control the speed of the three wheeler according to Police.
