66 Corona Positives Had Been Reported In The Country Today(30)

A total of 55 Corona Virus positives had been reported from Sri Lanka today until 11 p.m ,increasing the total number of Corona Positives to 1613 according to Epidemiology Unit .

Accordingly 822 Corona positives and 55 suspected as Corona Positives are being currently received treatment at Government Hospitals at the moment ,

Meanwhile 27 Corona positives had been discharged from hospitals today increasing the total number of positives discharged from hospitals to 781 it has been revealed .. 

When Some Docs Become A Bunch Of Jokers

As new Corona virus clusters are being formed within Navy and Foreign Arrivals to Sri  Lanka these days ,Some doctors attached to Trade Unions who are not even qualified Epidemiologists  or Health specialists are trying to get credit by commenting on these clusters and Corona Situation here just by stealing ideas submitted to the government by the Medical specialists it has been reported .

These so called doctors had stolen the health warnings issued by medical specialists to the Government since last March and attempted to get marks from the public by issuing statements to the Media  .On the other hand one or two  doctors are trying to show that Corona epidemic in the country  is now over and people can  freely moved on from now  .What a bunch of jokers .

A Quarantine Police Curfew To Be Imposed in Nuwara-eliya District From Midnight Today

A quarantine Police curfew is due to impose in Nuwara -Eliya Administrative from midnight tonight (29) to 10 p.m on this Sunday the day which the funeral of late Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) leader Arumugam Thondaman scheduled to be taken place in the District . 

Except carrying out Essential services all Transport activities had been halted in the District  during this week .

28 Corona Positives Had Been Reported Today (29) So Far

A total of 28 Corona positives had been reported in the country today (29) until 11 p.m , increasing the total number of Corona positives reported so far to 1558 according to the Epidemiology Unit.

Accordingly 17 out of the 28 Corona positives reported today were Navy personal and 11 were foreign arrivals .At the moment 794 Corona positives are being treated in Government Hospitals .

Also 09 Corona Positives had been discharged today from hospitals after fully recovered  .increasing the total number of Corona positives that had been discharged from the hospitals to 754 .

  

New study says 1 in 7 New Yorkers had Covid-19 by the end of March

More than 2 million New Yorkers had been infected with Covid-19 by the end of March – about 10 times the official count, according to a new study. 

State data, however, shows only about 189,000 cases by the end of March. That means about 1.8 million cases potentially went undetected. 

Why cases may have been undercounted: There are several reasons why those cases were not detected, said study coauthor David Holtgrave, dean of the School of Public Health at the University at Albany. 

Some infected people may have had no symptoms, or only mild symptoms, and so never went to the doctor, Holtgrave said. Others might have wanted to get tested but couldn’t find a doctor to test them, given the shortage of tests in February and March. 

In the study, researchers drew blood from more than 15,000 New York adults and found that about 14%, or 1 out of 7, had antibodies to the virus, which means they had previously been infected. The researchers extrapolated that number to the entire population.

On herd immunity: While the 14% infection rate was higher than previously thought, it’s still not high enough to confer herd immunity, Holtgrave said.

Herd immunity is when a community has a sufficiently high proportion of people who are immune to a disease so that the disease is unlikely to spread. These are the full results of New York's antibody survey, some of which New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has previously mentioned.

The data also shows that communities of color were disproportionately infected. Among those who had antibodies, 30% were Hispanic and 22% were black, which is higher than their proportions in the New York population. 

The study was coauthored by officials at the New York Department of Health, and posted on the pre-print server MedRXiv.org, which means it wasn’t peer reviewed or published in a medical journal.
