Msning Market In Pettah Closed Down For Next Week

The Maning Market in pettah,Colombo
which sells fruits and vegetables had been closed down for next week until further notice for trade activities according to the Government .

This step has been taken due to some corona virus positives and the persons who had close contacts with them have been identified in the srea it has been announced .

Government had requested all the farmers who are supplying fruits and vegetables to the maning market to supply their harvest to the Economic centers at Meegoda ,Narahenpita ,Rathmalana ,Piliyandala and Veyangoda until further notice  .

A request has been made from traders who are purchasing fruits and vegetables from the market to avoid putchasing them  due to the closure of the market .

More Than 500 PCR Tests Performed Yesterday (16) , But No Positives Found -Health Ministry

More than 500 "PCR" tests had been
performed during yesterday (16)by the Gealth officials regsrding Corona Virus suspects and no one was tested positive for the corona virus Health Mnistry has announced today (17).

The total number of Corona Virus positives identified from the country is remains as 238 the Ministty has stated .

Meanwhile 13 laboratories attached to Government Hospitals are currently performs "PCR "tests to ifentify Corona virus positives and the laboratory in Batticaloa Teaching Hospital is scheduled to begin PCR Tests from tomorrow(18) as the 14 th lab ,the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Anil Jasinghe has stated .

Grama Seva Niladharis Decided To Withdraw From Distributing Rs.5000 Among Selected Groups Affected Due To Current Situation

Grama Seva Niladharis (Rural officers )
in the island have withdrawn from distributing Rs.5000 special allowance to identified groups in the country mostly self employed workers who are being badly affected due to the curfew imposed tbroughout the island at present  .

The main reason behind this move  of Grama seva niladharis  due to not providing them with sanitary equipment including face masks to protect themselves whilst distributing the allowamce to doorsteps  according to the Sri lanka Grama Niladhari Association .

Government has recently  decided to distribute a special allowance of Rs.5000 to groups including Elders over the age of 70, three wherler drivers ,School  van service drivers ,electricians Masons ,Plumbers, Bus drivers ,Conductors etc as they have lost their income due to the current situation .

No Corona Virus Positives Reported Today (16)-Total Remains As 238

Not a single  Corona Virus Positive case
has been reported from the Island today (16)up to 12 in the midnight according to the Epidemeology Unit .

Accordingly the total number of Corona positive cases that are reported from the country remains as 238 .Five corona virus positives had been reported yesterday (15) and four of them were identified at quarantine centers and one of them at Colombo National Hospital the Health Ministry has announced .

The 238 th Corona virus positive who had been identified whilst receiving treatment at Colombo National Hospital last night was a 59 year old female resident of Kotahena area who had returned from India recently .

Meanwhile 163 Corona virus positives are being currently received treatment at four Government hospitals under close medical supervision .

Majority of the reported Corona virus positives which is 49 had been reported from Colombo district .
