market contains ingredients that might cause adverse side effects they should be used carefully according to Consultant Dermatologist attached to Homagama Base Hospital Dr.Indira Kahawita .
Addressing a Public and Media Seminar held on 'Plastics ,Food additives and Use of Cosmetics "at Sri Lanka Medical Association Auditorium in Wijerama Road ,Colombo -07 on last Thursday Dr.kahawita has stated that Skin cancer is on the rise in Sri Lanka and Using of low quality cosmetic products too may have impact on This.
"When purchading Cosmetics Consumers should have checked not only the manufacture and expiry dates of the product also the registration number ,Batch number ,ingredients contains in the product and whether it suites their skin .There are many patients who are attending government Hospital clinics due to side effects of Cosmetics like creems,powders, Gel ,hair dye ,lipstick, cuteX and face whitening products like bleaching powder "she has stressed .
The research carried out in some countries show a link between some Cosmetics and some cancers .Therefore it's better to use them only when necessary ,not every time .For a healthy skin drink plenty of water ,eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and meditate Dr.Kahawita has further said .
