Rap Singer With Accusations Iraj Weeraratne Has Been Appointed As A Director Of Tourism Promotioms Bureau

The local rap singer who had been
charged over rapping yesteryer sinhala songs without getting permission from the song owners ,Iraj Weeraratne has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau with effect from today (14).

The singer who had supported the current president Gotabaya Rajapakshe during the presidential election campaign by slinging mud against UNP. Presidential candidate Sajith premadasa through the social media had been appointed as a Director by Minister Prasanna ranathumge it has been reported .

However he has not fullfilled the qualifications need to be appointed for a  post in a state institution it has been revealed .

Meanwhile Dr.Nalaka Godahewa has told today during a press briefing held in Colombo that  a persons not recommended by the expert committee appointed to select suitable candidates for the higher posts of Government institutions have been appointed .

Three Members Of Same Famiy Had Been Drowned In Wanathawilluwa

Three members of a same family

 including a 45 year old Mother and her son and daugher had been drowned this evening (14)whilst bathing in Ralmaduwa Tank at Wanathawilluwa,Puttalam .

The bodies of them had been recovered and sent to the Puttalam Base Hospital for post mortem.

Wanathawluwa police are conducting an investigation over the incident.

President To Increase The Mimimum Daily Wage Of The Estate Worker To Rs.1000

President Gotabaya Rajapakshe had
 today (14)instructed the officials to
increase  the minimum daily wage of an Estate worker to Rs.1000 with effect from 01st of March this year .

Coincides with this pay increase President has ordered the officials to develop the all sections of the Estate sector including the infrastructure facilities in view of developing  the productivity and quality of the Sri Lankan Tea Industry .

As the government has recently provided the tax reductions and Fertilizer subsidy to the Tea Industry the benefit of these  comcessions should be granted to the estate workers as well President has stated.

Former Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne Had Given A Four And Half Hour Ststement To CID

Former Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne had appeared before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)this noon (14)and given a four and
half hour statement regarding the press briefing conducted by him over white van abductions last november prior to the Presidential Elections.

Dr.Senaratne who had been discharged from Lanka Hospital at Narahenpita where he received treatment fot a heart ailment simce three weeks ,had left CID Premises after giving the statement this evening .

Colombo Chief Magistrate had ordered the former Health Minister when granting bail after been arrested whilst receiving treatment at Lanka Hospitals ,to appear before CID soon after discharge from the hospital.

Meanwhile Colombo High Court had issued summons to Dr.Senaratne to appear before the court on 17 th of January for the hearing of the revised petition filed by Attorney General against granting bail to Dr.Senaratne.
