Eighteen Persons Injured Due To Bus -Oil Bowser Collision

Eighteen persons including Bus
passangers and drivers of a private Bus,Oil Bowser and a Three wheeler had been injured, six of them critically and hospitalized due to a Bus -Oil Bowser collision at Malpitiya area on Kurunagala -Colombo main road yesterday (07).

The injured had been admitted to the Kurunagala Teaching Hospital for treatment and six of the critically injured are currently receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of the hospital it has been revealed .

The incident occurred when the Private Bus travelling from Kurunagala to Kegalle had collided with the Bowser travelling from Polgahawela to Kurunagala collidided   when the Bus attempted to overtake a Three wheeler according to the police .

Bus driver as well as Drivers of the Bowser and the Three wheeler are amomg those hospitalized with serious injuries .

The fire fighters attached to kurunagala Municipsl council had been called to the accident site in view of preventing a fire at Oil Bowser .

Fires Erupted In Two Mountaims At Haldummulla Destroyed Around 15 Acres Of Land

Around 15 acres of land including
cultivation land belonging to the Rukattana and Kahatathalawa Mountains due to a sudden fires erupted in these mountains since yesterday (07) according to Disaster Management Center  at Badulla .

The fires are spreading rapidly due to the dry weather and strong winds prevailing in the area the Center has stated .Residents of the area and Haldummulla police are currently engaging in dousing the fires .

Three Arrested And Remanded Over Revealing White Van Abductions Financing A Press Briefing On The Issue Released On Bail

had yesterday(06)ordered to release two suspects arrested and remanded over revealing white van abductions during a press briefing and former Chairman of State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) Mohommad Rumi who were arrested and remanded over financing the press briefing ,on bail

The two suspects of the ages 45 and 46 years old arrested and remanded over revealing white van abductions and former SPC  chairman Rumi arrested snd remsnded over financing a press briefing on white van abductions  had been released on two surety bails of Rs.500,000 each .

The complaint against the released individuals had taken up for hearing yesterday at Colombo Magistrate court .

However Chief Magistrate had imposed  an overseas travel ban on the released imdividuals .

By granting bail to the above persons Chief Magistrate has told all three were arrested without conducting a proper inquiry over the charges levelled against them .

Hoowever the Deputy solicitor General Dileepa pieris who had appeared before the court on behalf of Attorney General 's Department had raised objection against granting bail by saying granting bail to all the suspects may hampered ongoing investigations agsinst them .

Agriculture Department To Stop Importing Of Sorghum And Peanuts To The Country

Agriculture Department  has decided to
stop the importing of Sorghum  and Peanuts to Sri Lanka with effect from 15th of January according to the Department .

This step will be taken to protect local Sorghum  and peanut farmers as their harvest is scheduled to be released to the local market soon the director of Agriculture Department W.M W Weerakoon .
