Four Persons Including Three Indians Had Been Killes And Two Hospitalized Due To Van-Container Truck Collision

Four persons including three Indian Nationals and their Sri Lankan  driver had been killed and two other Indians had been critically injured and hospitalized when the Van they were travelling in colliding with the rear side  of a container truck at the 62nd kilo meter post near the kurundugahahathapma interchange between Kurundugahahathapma and Welipanna areas of the Southrn Expressway this evening (23).

Four of the critically injured persons had succumbed to their injuries after admission to Nagaoda Hospital in Kalutara and Elpitiya Hospitals for treatment   .A female was among the dead according to Police .

Two  critically injured Indians had been transferred  to the Karapitiya  Teaching  Hospital for  further treatment .

The van was travelling to Colombo from Matara  at the time of the incident .

Kawudulla Tank Opens Two Sluice Gates

Two sluice gates of Kawudulla Tank at Polonnaruwa District had been opened  today(22)as the water level of the Tank reached it's spill level due to the heavy showers prevailing in the area according  to Disaster Management Center .

As the Kawudulla Tank releasesloo around 300 square feets of water per second as a result of opening sluice gates ,there's a flood threat occurred in low land areas nearby the Center has stated .
