Twenty One Foreign Nationals Had Been Arrested In Wellampitiya Without Valid Visas

Immigration and Emigration officials
have arrested 21 Foreign Nationals including 19 Indian Nationals and 02 Bangladeshi Nationals over illegally staying in Sri Lanka without valid visas during a massive raid carried out at Wellampitiya  area (Western Province ) this morning(03).

The suspects who are of the ages 25-40 years had engaged  in various jobs although not  obtaining valid visas ut has been revealed .

They had been sent to the Detention camp at Mirihana area for further questioning accordance to Immigration and Emigration Department .

Customs Officers Arrested 35,000 Kilo Grammes Of Waste Tea Prepared For Export To United Arab Emirates

Officers attached to the Department Of
Customs have today (03)taken in to custody a stock of Waste Tea weighing 35,000 Kilo Grammes which stored in two boxes prepared to be exported to United Arab Emirates(UAE) at the Export facilty center.

No one was arrested in this regard upto.now it has been revealed .

The estimated value of the  stock of Waste Tea taken in to custody is around Rs.3.5 mullion it has been stated  .

The srock of waste tea is prepared to be exported to UAE on the pretext of a by product of Coconut (Kohubath)it has been revealed.

Customs Officers are investigating over the incident .

Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission Requested The IGP An Impartial Inquiry On The Threatening Of A Visa Officer In Swiss Embasdy

Sri Lanka Human rights Commission
had requested the acting Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Chandana wikramaratne to conduct an impartial inquiry over the abduction and threatening of a Visa officer in Swiss Embassy in Colombo by an unidentified group  last week .

In the letter sent to the acting IFP Wikramaratne Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission had stressed that the uncidents like this will tbreaten the democratic rights and freedom experienced by the country .

Human Rights Commission is concern regarding the way the inquiry on the incident is being conducted accordance to the letter .

Meawhile Foreign affairs ministry has earlier revealed the information provided by the Swiss Embassy in colombo were different from the facts revealed by the victim.Ministry has urged the vicim to give a statement regarding the incident to the CID .

A Retired Army Officer Ajith prasanna had commenced a fast campaign infront of the Swiss Embassy last morning and the fast has bern stooped today it has been reported.


President Prorogued The Parliament Sessions -New Parliament Session To Be Ceremoniously Opened By Him In January

President Gotabaya Rajspakshe has
issued a special gazette notification   țmidnight last night(02)to prorogue the Parliament sessions under the powers vested with him from the section 70(1) of the Constitution .

Accordance to the Gazette notification issued by the president yesterday ,Parliament will be ceremoniously opened by him on 03rd of January next year (2020).Earlier President Rajapakshe has signed and sent the Gazette notification on proroguing parliament sessions to the government printer to print .

As the Parliament sessions prorogued around 20 committes that functioned under  the old parliament have been automatically abolished and new committe members are scheduled to be elected for the committees when the parliament meets again in January.
