New Cabinet Of The Intetim Government Had Sworn In-Several Parliamentariens Under Probe Over Corruption Charges Also Appointed To Cabinet

Government comprising of 15 members including several Parliamentarians belonging to joint opposition who are under investigation over  corruption charges ,had sworn in before President Gotabaya Rajapakshe last morning (22)at Presidential secretariet in Colombo fort.

Accordingly Prime Minister of the interim government Mahinda Rajapakshe holds  several ministries including Ministry  of Finance ,Housing and  Water supplies and his brother Chamal Rajapakshe had been sworn in as Minister of Mahaweli .

Is the Minister of Education ,Sports and youth affairs and Pavithra Devi Wanniarachchi is the Minister of Health ,Womens affairs and Children .

Those who are under investigation over corruption charges Wimal weerawansha has been appointed as rhe Minister of SME,Enterprises development and Supplies management ,Johmston fernando as Minister of Road,Highways ,Ports and shipping ,Janaka Bandara Tennakoon as Minister of home affairs ,Bandula gunawardane as Minister of Information,Communication and Higher Education ,Prasanna Ranathunge as Minister of Industries and tourism .

Dinesh Gunawardana has been appointed as Minister  of Foreign affairs .Nimal siripala de silva is the Minister of Justice,Human Rights and Lefal Reforms and S.M Chandrasena is the Minister of Enviornment .

A group of State Ministers will be appointed on Monday (25)and they should be allowed to work in the ministries President Gotabaya Rajspakshe has requested the Cabinet.

Addressing the New Cabinet members President has stated new Cabinet should work to implement the Election manifesto submitted to the public during Presidential campaign .

Price Of Bread Has Been Reduced To Earlier Price

Price of a 450 Gramme Loaf of Bread
which has been temporary increased by All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association since midnight last Wednesday (20)  ,has been reduced by same anount  yesterday (21)after the Prima flour company has reduced it's increased price of wheat flour by Rs.8.16  .

Prima flour company had increased the flour price amidst election results by Rs.8.16 and as a result All Ceylon Bakety owners Association had decided to increase  the price of Bread by Rs.5 .

However as the Prima Flour Company agreed to reduce the flour price Bakery owners Assocoation too reduce the increresed Bread price .


Price Of Cement Bag Increased By Rs.100

The price of a 50 Kilo Gramme Cement
Pack has been increased by Rs.100 from Rs.995 to Rs.1095 with effect from today (22)the  Building contractors have announced  .

The price increase has been implemented after consumer affairs authority  has given permission to 05 cement manufacturing companies to increase the price of cement according to Consumer Rights Protection National Campaign .

Issue Of Appointing An Opposition Leader Should Be Resolved Within The UNP Parliamentary Group -Speaker

National Party (UNP)Akila Viraj Kariyawasam  had yesterday (21)requested the Parliamentary Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to appoint UNP Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe as the opposition leader .UNP General Secretary had sent this request with a letter of support signed by 45 UNP MP's .
Meanwhile UNP MP Ajith .P.Perera who is a supporter of the Former Deputy Leader of UNP MP Sajith Premadasa had been handed over a letter signed by 40 UNP MP's to Speaker Jayasuriya during a Parliamentary Select committee meeting held at Parliamentary complex yesterday (21)requesting to appoint MP Premadasa as the Opposition leader .

However Speaker Jayasuriya has informed MP Ajith.P.Perera that the issue related to the appointing of Opposition leader should be resolved within the UNP Parliamentary group and not in the Parliamentary Select committee .

It's a tradition of the secretary of a party  to request  the speaker regarding appointing a leader of a party as the opposition leader Speaker has stressed .

Meanwhile a group of UNP MP's supporting MP Sajith Premadasa had yesterday (21)accused UNP General secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam of preventing UNP party supporters from enteting Party headquarters at "Sitikotha " to meet MP premadasa which was denied by UNP Secretary .

Accordingly Dr.Seetha Arambepola had sworn in as the Governor of Western Province ,Willie Gamage had sworn in as Governor of Southern Province ,Tikiri Kobbakaduwa as Governor of Sabaragamuwa province ,M.J.M Mussammil as Governor of North
 province and Lalith Gamage as Central province  .

Governors of Three Provimces are due to be sworn in tomorrow.
