Issue Of Appointing An Opposition Leader Should Be Resolved Within The UNP Parliamentary Group -Speaker

General Secretary of the United
National Party (UNP)Akila Viraj Kariyawasam  had yesterday (21)requested the Parliamentary Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to appoint UNP Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe as the opposition leader .UNP General Secretary had sent this request with a letter of support signed by 45 UNP MP's .
Meanwhile UNP MP Ajith .P.Perera who is a supporter of the Former Deputy Leader of UNP MP Sajith Premadasa had been handed over a letter signed by 40 UNP MP's to Speaker Jayasuriya during a Parliamentary Select committee meeting held at Parliamentary complex yesterday (21)requesting to appoint MP Premadasa as the Opposition leader .

However Speaker Jayasuriya has informed MP Ajith.P.Perera that the issue related to the appointing of Opposition leader should be resolved within the UNP Parliamentary group and not in the Parliamentary Select committee .

It's a tradition of the secretary of a party  to request  the speaker regarding appointing a leader of a party as the opposition leader Speaker has stressed .

Meanwhile a group of UNP MP's supporting MP Sajith Premadasa had yesterday (21)accused UNP General secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam of preventing UNP party supporters from enteting Party headquarters at "Sitikotha " to meet MP premadasa which was denied by UNP Secretary .

Five New Governors Had Sworn In

before president Gotabaya Rajapakshe at a function held in Presidemt's office at Colombo Fort this morning (21).

Accordingly Dr.Seetha Arambepola had sworn in as the Governor of Western Province ,Willie Gamage had sworn in as Governor of Southern Province ,Tikiri Kobbakaduwa as Governor of Sabaragamuwa province ,M.J.M Mussammil as Governor of North
 province and Lalith Gamage as Central province  .

Governors of Three Provimces are due to be sworn in tomorrow.

Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapakshe Had Sworn In As Prime Minister

Opposition Leader  and  Former
President Mahinda Rajapakshe had sworn in before his brother President Gotabaya Rajapakshe as the Prime Minister of the Interim government at 1 p.m this evening  in Presidential Secretariet ,Colombo Fort.

The new premier had assumed his duties this evening at Prime mimster





However the Cabinet is scheduled to be sworn in before Presidemt Gotabaya Rajarpakshe  tomorrow morning (22) it has been revealed .The Cabinet of the current intetim government will be comprised of 15 members according to sources .

MP Fowzie Had Been Removed From His MP Post

The central committe of the Sri Lanka
Freedom Party(SLFP) has today (21)decided to remove the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP A.H.M Fowzie from the Parliamentary member (MP)post  over joining United National Party (UNP)during the election .

The decision has been taken by the SLFP Central committee meetimg held few hours ago under the patronage of The chairman of the SLFP Former president Maithripala Sirisena .

The decision on removing MP Fowzie from the MP post is scheduled to be sent to the General Secretary of the Parliament tomorrow (22).

MP Fowzie had been  removed from MP Post after he was found guilty on participating UNP Rallies  during a disciplinary inquiry held against him according to the reports .

Former President Sirisena who grabbed the post of Chairman of the SLFP after ruining both United National Party and SLFP has not taken any action against few SLFP MP's who had participated the election rallies of President Gotabaya Rajapakshe representing Sri Lanka Podujana Persmuna  during his election campsign .
